During The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security’s hearing yesterday billed as “Examining Uvalde: The Search For Bipartisan Solutions To Gun Violence” Texas GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert chose to talk about the non-existent grooming of children by teachers in elementary school and the lack of religious – i.e. Old Testament – training in the same as a root cause for Gun violence in the classroom.

So, I guess we just need to rewrite all curricula to include Bible Thumping then wait twelve or fifteen years for the gun slaughter to abate, huh, Louie?

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security held a hearing Thursday on finding a solution to gun violence, and the difference of opinion between Democrats and Republicans was put on full display.

Passions ran high given the sensitivity of the issues involved, as liberal lawmakers focused on weapons and conservatives on the people who use them. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, a former judge who handled felony cases, was in the latter group and focused on the need to instill morality in people, citing Judeo-Christian principles. He went so far as to say it is the bedrock of the nation’s founding principles, and that the effectiveness of the Constitution depends on it.

“We gotta get back to teaching there is a right or wrong or, I agree with everybody here, we’re going to have to get rid of the Second Amendment, we’re going to have to get rid of Freedom of Speech, we’re going to have to get rid of freedom of assembly,” Gohmert said. “This Constitution won’t work the way we are teaching children.”

  2. Asshat conservatives preaching personal responsibility, morals & right and wrong need to take a look in the fucking mirror. And start teaching THEIR people what they are preaching, including and especially that it’s wrong to run around threatening people with their GUNS to get their way. Or worse, shooting and killing others. Not all to be sure, but most of those who engage in this shit and especially mass shootings are conservatives. And increasingly egged on to “take matters into their own hands” by leading/high profile conservatives! (Like ole Louie the Louse)

Oh, to have been a witness at the hearing and when it came time for my “testimony,” my first words would be “I have a speech prepared but I wish to begin with an impromptu comment: Fuck you, Gohmert. It’s idiots like you that are ultimately responsible for every single school shooting because you refuse to, pardon the phrase, target the true problem and that is an absolutely insane love of penis substitutes commonly referred to as guns. Now, for my prepared statement . . . .”
