Say what you will about the Boy Plunder, he has an amazing gift for framing issues of great complexity and long duration as simple misunderstandings that can be redressed with equally simple solutions, not to worry. It’s a bit like being wheeled into a hospital ER with a huge tumor and being told that a chiropractic adjustment and an enema will have you feeling fit as a fiddle in no time. Kushner said in an op ed in the Wall Street Journal
One of the reasons the Arab-Israeli conflict persisted for so long was the myth that it could be solved only after Israel and the Palestinians resolved their differences. That was never true. The Abraham Accords exposed the conflict as nothing more than a real-estate dispute between Israelis and Palestinians that need not hold up Israel’s relations with the broader Arab world. It will ultimately be resolved when both sides agree on an arbitrary boundary line.
Just draw a line in the sand you bozos, what’s wrong with you? Kushner refers to his precious Abraham Accords as a “geopolitical earthquake” in the op ed and then goes on to do a travelogue about how there are all kinds of visitors to the region now since air travel began and money is being made. That’s the Kushner focus, what else? The fact that the Palestinians were left out of Abraham Accords negotiations and that that was seen as a neon red flag at the time, and future problems were predicted, eluded him then and it eludes him now.
Israel is making daily strikes on Gaza and Hamas is firing rockets back. The “real estate dispute” blew up, as predicted, May 7 when once again Israeli police clashed with Palestinian protesters, this time over eight Palestinian families losing their homes in East Jerusalem to Jewish settlers. Kushner characterizes the battle for this land, in an area where three major religions, Islam, Judaism and Christianity, (not to mention different sects of each) exist in close proximity, like it was a simple easement or property line confusion. The only thing simple in this equation is Kushner’s mind.
So the Abraham Accords collapsed, as it was predicted they would, while Kushner talks about the economic prosperity of the region, because his religion is money. He doesn’t get anything else. None of the Trumps or their relatives do. So without further ado, here are some scenes from Jared Kushner’s Vision For Peace. Reuters:
May 10 – After a weekend of sporadic violence, hundreds of Palestinians are hurt in clashes with Israeli security forces at the Al-Aqsa compound, Islam’s third holiest site. After demanding Israel withdraw its security forces from the compound, Hamas fires a barrage of rockets from Gaza into Israel. Israel hits back with air strikes on Gaza.
May 11 – The death toll mounts as the aerial bombardments continue. A 13-story residential building in Gaza collapses after being hit during an Israeli air strike. Palestinian militants launch rockets deep into Israel.
May 12 – The United States announces it will send an envoy to the region. Israel’s military kills a senior Hamas commander in Gaza during more hostilities.
May 13 – Israeli air strikes and militant rocket fire continue, and violence worsens in mixed communities of Jews and Arabs in Israel. Synagogues are attacked and clashes break out in some towns.
May 14 – Israel uses warplanes, tanks and artillery against a network of Palestinian militant tunnels under Gaza in an operation that is followed by more Palestinian rocket salvoes.
Where this whole thing went south is that Benjamin Netanyahu gave lip service to Kushner’s vision. He won’t listen to the rest of the world, either. CNN reports “A joint statement earlier this month from five European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Britain) urged a halt to the expansion of 540 new homes in the West Bank, and asked Israel “to cease its policy of settlement expansion across the Occupied Palestinian Territories.” But Netanyahu doesn’t want to honor international agreements like this, because doing so will risk alienating the ultra-Orthodox faction who want to expand Israeli settlements on Palestinian lands, and he needs their support in order to hold onto power.
These are complicated matters and the fact that Jared Kushner thought it was all so simple and such a lark only speaks to the issue of what a naive fool he is. He thought he brokered all kinds of peace agreements and changed the world. And yes, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates began talking to one another, as did Morocco and Sudan. Diplomatic relations were opened and commercial air flights were allowed and this is all very good. But the truly explosive aspect of this region, the Israeli/Palestinian conflict was simply blown past, as if it didn’t exist — or as if it was, as Kushner characterizes it as, “nothing more than a real estate dispute.” By that logic, hell, Hitler invading Poland was nothing more than a real estate dispute, as well. Russia annexing Crimea is nothing more than a real estate dispute. Why, every war that’s ever been fought is a mere real estate dispute.
Kushner’s father knew Benjamin Netanyahu personally, and Netanyahu even spent the night at the Kushner home in New Jersey once. That’s why Donald Trump felt comfortable sending Kushner to “do peace” which he characterized as “the ultimate deal” and Kushner apparently thought Netanyahu would just do whatever he, Boy Wonder, asked him to do after his 25-book crash course in diplomacy and the Middle East.

Kushner is the walking embodiment of the old adage, “fools rush in where angels fear to tread.” He should put it on his tombstone.
I think the only way it will be “solved” is if both groups are separated by at least 6000 miles. (Move everyone out, and give it to the people wanting out of Hong Kong.)

I’m old enough to remember the Six-Day war. Too many on both sides prefer revenge for past wrongs.
Doesn’t help we provide money,arms, support etc., to one side while claiming we support a 2 state solution. Too many rich Zionist in this country, pretending it’s all about self defense. A vision for peace requires a recognition that people want peace and justice. Don’t think Kushner gets this minor point.
The Israelis learned their special brand of fascism first hand from the masters.
It’s a curious fact that Israel has managed to run an apartheid since 1948. Having the same deal done to them throughout Europe over the centuries, & frequently being a conquered people evidently didn’t teach them no justice no peace. Just shows no citizenry can control a right wing government, which is what Israel has at the moment.
I couldn’t keep up with the numbers just now but in just one of the years of war in the last 20, 4 Israeli citizens died to 948 Palestinians. It ain’t a fair fight. So sad two of Trump’s buddies in Israel and Russia are distracting from Biden’s crucial domestic legislation to bolster their own domestic situations.
