Washington Post Reporter Carol Leonnig appeared on Nicole Wallace’s afternoon MSNBC show yesterday to explain that the Justice Department and the FBI were reluctant to open an investigation into the many crimes committed in the incitement to, and execution of, the Capitol Riot on Jan. 6th, 2021 because they feared such an investigation would appear “partisan”… what with so many Republican elected officials being involved and all.
What a stunning admission.
We have one political party in this country determined to destroy our democracy – while the other fears that trying to stop them would appear “partisan”.
If this situation is allowed to continue to function as it does presently we are well and truly fooked, my friends.
“The Washington Post revealed that the Department of Justice and the FBI were resistant to opening a probe into Donald Trump for Jan. 6 for over a year, but reporter Carol Leonnig told MSNBC on Monday they were finally shamed into acting when the House Select Committee launched an investigation into the insurrection.
Leonnig began by explaining that between her and her co-author, they interviewed more than 100 people – and many had assumed that the DOJ was already involved in a Jan. 6 investigation. What her report revealed was that, at the time, it wasn’t.
She said the reluctance was because the FBI was afraid of Donald Trump because so many people had lost their jobs or careers because of the FBI’s probe into Trump and alleged Russia connections during the 2016 election.
At the same time, she said, the DOJ was scared that if it went after the Jan. 6 attacks it would appear as if it was going after the Republican Party because so many Republicans were involved.”
It is hard to say which is more disheartening, the fact that our top law enforcement agency was cowed into inaction by a two-bit bully who in fact was no longer in a position to extract revenge on them, or a DOJ that acknowledges that they were reluctant to even investigate the crime of the century because they knew that one political party was responsible for it and to call them to account for a blatant assault on our nation’s foundations would appear “partisan”.

And, even today, trail balloons are being released proposing that the DOJ might try to make a plea deal with drumpf in the stolen documents case because, gosh darn it, the documents he heisted are just “too secret” to expose in open court.

I just have one question: if the situation were reversed, would republicans hesitate to go after democrats? We need to grow up and deal with these clowns!
Whenever there is something any republican does that most people consider, automatically, against the law it would make the ‘pubes slightly less hypocritical if they would first ask themselves “what would we expect to be done if Barak Obama did this same thing”. We know the answer to that question of course-they’d be running for ropes f.f.s.
If Biden had pulled a J6, the trial would have been over in February and he would have been locked up in a Supermax with a life sentence, if not executed. Rethugs never disappoint–it’s party over country–always.
I am not so sure that Jack Smith will agree to a plea deal on anything with which Trump is charged (for Smith’s own cases).
