To be honest, I never believed the story about Ron DeSantis eating pudding with his fingers, which then got made into a gross attack ad by Donald Trump. I don’t even want to post it here, because it’s 30 seconds that will ruin your appetite. (Say: there’s an idea. Maybe this ad should be marketed as an appetite suppressant.)
Today we get this tidbit of DeSantis wolfing down pizza shall we say? In all honesty, I’d rather he use a knife and fork as Trump supposedly used to do.

Now I don’t want to be overly petty, because this is the least of what bothers me about this guy. But I will say this: who in his right mind does a sit down interview and wolfs down pizza like this? Who?
I seem to recall Limbaugh going on and on about politicians who allow themselves to be seen eating at fundraiser dinners and how damaging that can be because of the awkward pics/videos.

Limbaugh was right for once. The press have a standing rule with the royal family that they’re never to be photographed while eating, for exactly this reason.

DeSantis is an awkward guy. But that’s the least of it, truly. Anybody who wants to eliminate the departments of Education, Commerce, Energy and the IRS is stone cold nuts. That’s the real problem with Ron DeSantis. Not to mention his cruelty with respect to immigrants. And we could go on.
This is just more grist for the mill. Bear in mind how underwhelmed the Brits were when he did his foray oversees. They found him dull and not very informed. The message here is that it’s not just us, the world is taking this guy’s measure and finding him wanting.
Maybe those rumors about DeSantis being a failed Disney animatronics project are true?
That would explain this video of a failing eating style as well as all his other ‘uncanny valley’ attempts at normal human behavior.
He was trying to get some MAGA cred, whammoing pizza like a “real MAGA man” would, or he thinks they would. Many a politician has try to play regular guy when they simply aren’t. It often turns into disaster. They (this includes DeSantis) should accept that they aren’t “regular guy” and own who they are. Instead of looking stupid.
By the way, not his brightest moment? That assumes he’s had bright moments to compare this too. I’m sure as hell not aware of any bright moments for this a$$clown! Now, if we want to compare it to his long list of sucky moments we’re at least in the right ballpark!
You’re spot on right that you need to own whoever you are. Jackie Kennedy became a huge success doing that. There was considerable worry back in the day that she might be alienating with the white gloves, all that, but she was herself and that was the right card to play. She was massively popular and world wide, as well. She was the genuine article, an American aristocrat.
Second guessing “what people want” is a recipe for disaster. If you’re yourself and you’ve got something of value, it will sell. DeSantis can’t create the something of value. He’s trying to figure out who he should pretend to be. Right now the most honest person in this primary is Chris Christie. The rest are drop dead phonies. (Not Asa Hutchinson, of course.)
Many regular people, including magats, have passable, even good, table manners. If the ‘pube base isn’t totally pissed that he thinks they’re pigs, they’re brain dead.
Harvard needs to worry less about affirmative action, and worry more about how this man tarnishes their reputation with his moronic and evil ways. Maybe jocks with marginal grades get a pass.

Never in my life have I seen a candidate trying his damnedest to be a real person, using the word “woke.” Seeing him chow down pizza just seals the deal for me—he’s an imitation man trying very unsuccessfully to get people to think that he’s a real person.
