This is as unoriginal and juvenile as you’ve come to expect from this crowd, not to mention totally gutless. I’m sure you’ve been waiting to see what the reaction was to Donald Trump’s admonition that Republicans stop debating and simply crown him king and that the GOP primary should be over. I know that I have. Without further ado, here it is.

It’s psychology, you see. Meatball DeSantis figures that if he accuses Trump of acting just like Joe Biden, that will enrage him and he’ll say, “No I’m NOT!” and fling a ketchup bottle or two and then show up onstage in Miami. Maybe it will work. I know I’m not holding my breath.

You notice that Birdbrain Nikki Haley didn’t chime in. Nor did Mike Pence. Forget about Vivek Ramaswamy. He has zero staying power. He came out of the gate with all his talking points and platitudes and gotten eaten alive by both Fox News and mainstream media. He’s toast, plus he would never criticize his idol. Chris Christie, surprisingly, has not escalated his former stance. Christie may be about ready to bow out. Frankly, I was hoping for more entertainment value from the man but maybe I overestimated him.

I believe that I can tell you what Trump’s response to DeSantis’ needle will be: he’ll say, “I’m out campaigning, Ron. I don’t need to debate. Everybody knows who I am and what I stand for and they all love me and I’m beating you by a kazillion points in the polls and so there.”

Mark my words, Trump’s comeback will be something like that. He’ll say, “Who’s in the basement? I had 50,000 people at my last rally (even if the real figure was five thousand) and I’m unstoppable.”

DeSantis is not good at the game of politicking. It will actually be a relief for one and all when he bows out. He and his self-obsessed motormouth wife are just not cutting it. A few more polls will probably show Haley taking a decisive second place lead over DeSantis and maybe that will lead him to suspend his campaign. It’s greatly to be hoped that something will.

Trump’s going to stick by his guns that the debates are “a waste of time and money.” And actually, this is one occasion when he’s probably right. He’s leading as the GOP primary star. Maybe the party should just go ahead and coronate him. I don’t know where that will leave them if Trump ends up getting convicted and sentenced, but I guess like with all things Trumpian, we’re going to find out.

  1. It’s hard to be a fascist when you have the appeal of tapioca pudding. Hey ronny. Why waste your time? Why not take in a vacation on Martha’s Vineyard?

Maybe Christie would rather fight with Trump when Trump’s actually there. Christie KNOWS Trump’s MO and he knows any criticism about Trump he makes in public but Trump’s not physically around will provoke a response but it will be on Trump’s terms. If Trump is physically present–as in “on stage”–when the criticism is made, Trump will R.E.A.C.T. He’ll become physical–his face will show visible, risible anger; his body language will start becoming defensive, like a cornered animal. It might impress his MAGAt fans but it will unnerve (at the very least) any decent NORMAL Republican voter watching a man, wanting to be President, acting like a wild beast (kind of like the heroine or leading lady in a werewolf picture, watching as the hero–typically her beloved–transform into the werewolf for the very first time).
