This is not something you’re going to see every day, so take note. California Congressman and Democrat Jimmy Gomez introduced a resolution to expel Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress for “repeated endorsements of sedition, domestic terrorism, and political violence.”
Gomez (D-CA): "I believe some of my Republican colleagues, and one in particular, wish harm upon this legislative body. And I'm not saying this for shock value. It's the conclusion I drew after a member of Congress advocated violence against our peers, the Speaker and our gov't."

A few hours later Pelsosi went on record distancing herself from this action.

My take on this is that Pelosi doesn’t want to exacerbate the culture war aspect of this, by creating a situation where she and the entire Democratic caucus are set in opposition to Greene. Pelosi knows that this resolution, which has 70 signatures on it, is unlikely to actually result in Greene being expelled, since a 2/3 majority is required. However, it’s still a good thing that this is happening, because Greene can’t just be allowed to run amok as she has, doing motions to adjourn at will and for no reason.
Tomorrow is March 20, don’t forget. Greene and Boebert and who knows who all in that clique of GOP QAnon crazies believe that “the plan” is that Trump returns to office tomorrow. Let’s hope they hold their breath waiting for it to happen.
Understood that Pelosi must tread lightly. I’m guessing that wants to keep whatever cooperation from other repubs that she can.
I read somewhere about 14 amendment sect 3 which talks about needing 2/3 votes to prevent someone from being expelled. The writer said why not propose it, it would never get the requisite votes. My question is, would that result in expulsion? Ursula? What do you think?
That “somewhere” was right here, Murfster’s article How to Win By Losing.
PS
That was in the case where the congress critter had engaged in insurrection against the United States, like back in the Civil War Era, just to clarify.
Rep. Gomez AND Speaker Pelosi need to read Murf’s article from this morning, “How to Win By Losing.” But this does raise the question whether Pelosi would be any more in favor of Murf’s approach than of Gomez’s, even though I believe it is the legally correct one.
That wasn’t Murf’s article, it was Michelle’s.
That’s the article.
Actually the article was written by Michelle Dale. Not to be obnoxious, but credit where it is due.
Don’t expect leadership from Pelosi, she abdicated that role long ago.
She just want’s to get back to her compound and eat gourmet ice cream from her $20,000 freezer.
Thanks for visiting from FoxLand.
Do you even lift bro?
It may not pass, but it makes it clear how disliked she is – even the Rs are getting tired of her shenanigans. (Boebert is probably getting there, also.)
