No one can accuse new Democratic Leader of the House Hakeem Jeffries of having little to say… when the microphones find him he always seems to come up with something quotable and incisive, and, quite often funny.
His comments on the new House GOP majority are a case in point:
“And look at what is happening right now. Look at what’s happening right now. House Republicans are attacking Senate Republicans. Senate Republicans are calling House Republicans silly and immature,” Jeffries told reporters, referencing recent GOP House members threatening GOP senators who vote for the omnibus spending bill.
“The leadership situation is in chaos,” Jeffries continued, noting the House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) are on opposing sides of the bill.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene is fighting with Lauren Boebert. And George Santos appears to be starring in the sequel to Catch Me If You Can,” Jeffries jested, calling out the Congressman-elect Santos over allegations he faked his past employment and education history – among many other things.
“And it’s not even January 3rd…”
“The circus has already come to town.”
Excepting that Leo DiCaprio is much better looking than George Santos could ever even lie himself into believing he is, and circuses are not usually totally comprised of clowns I would grade Jerries’ remarks an A+.
What say you Acyn?
Future Speaker of the House right there! I’m very excited for the future!

Me too 👍
Is Santos first fictional character ever elected to Congress?

If Jack Smith puts all the insurrectionists away, Rep. Jeffries may be Speaker before 2024.
— Amethyst Darke 🏴☠️🍀🌈 (@OutlawWitch) December 21, 2022
That would be sweet.
I gloated for years about Pelosi after a minority of House Democrats opposed her bid to become Speaker. I have a feeling I am going to be gloating again about @RepJeffries. Watching him run circles around the House GOP is going to be fun!

He sure did, Leo!
I admire Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, and enjoy his no-nonsense observations about those kooky GQPers in Congress. He pulls no punches, and tells it like it is.

I can’t think of a better person to take over from our Queen Pelosi. Love him. 👏🏼

Yup
I don’t know if Hakeem will be as good at herding cats as Speaker Pelosi was but he definitely shares her ability to puncture the over inflated helium balloons on the GOP side.
I look forward to all of his future pronouncements.
I feel about Santos like I feel about that con man asshole of that Catch Me If You Can movie – both are despicable pieces of shit. I never watched that movie and never will. The asshole spent his life conning people, hurting folks in the process. THEN he smooth talks his way into getting himself portrayed in movie and GRIFTS a nice chunk of money getting made out to be a colorful character. A real piece of shit in my book. Every fucking dime he got should have been put towards restitution to atone for his misdeeds. So it is with Santos. Another real piece of shit who conned his way into a nice, fat salary and perks in the Congress. So what if the GOP gets a semi-sane Speaker who keeps him from having any duties/committee assignments? Like MTG for the past couple of years he will still collect his cash & perks because the one thing the GOP will NOT do is vote prevent him from being sworn in/seated. (Because they’re worried they might lose a special election to replace him!)
I enjoyed the movie, tho, just as entertainment.
The next time ANYONE screams about Dems being weak or bad at messaging or any of the related moldy golden oldies, I will direct their attention to Jeffries. This righteous disciple of Nancy Pelosi is playing a totally different game, one we’d all better start learning the rules to.
Be careful Hakeem. I’m sure you know by now the fastest way to get in trouble in America is to tell the truth and tell it plainly. Especially as a man of color. I’m sure Nancy covered this in your training. But it does need to be told. Good for you.
I imagine as a black man in America who has gotten as far as he has, no such training was necessary in terms of recognizing the danger. The trick was always how to act effectively in spite of such, which Pelosi would have covered.
If it wasn’t serious business the whole thing would be hilarious. And it’s only just starting. Wait until the bad republicans break ranks and vote for legislation to help Americans. And in a real and fair world they will bust the insurrectionist in the house for their roles on J6.
