The Russian people are ruled by a lunatic, not for the first time in their history and possibly not for the last.
While world news is filled with images of Russian troops beating a hasty retreat, and the white flag of surrender being flown. Vladimir Putin has better things to do.
He’s found a toy that engages his mind. A ferris wheel, to be precise. The optics of dedicating a toy at a time of military defeat, i.e., national emergency are lost on him, apparently. But they’re not lost on the Ukrainian ambassador.
Ferris wheel symbolizes the wheel of change & the idea you can’t get off. It’s traced to Middle Ages. One, as in Putin, is taken round until the ride ends [he dies] & is disgorged back into the spirit world, as in hell. Per russian obsession w/symbolism. Well done! Great timing! https://t.co/Iw83ulsfrP

This is great optics as well.
This is precisely why people were warned against accepting Russian passports. To them, it is as if you have been declared a citizen. Once you accept a passport, your fate is sealed unless you are lucky enough to survive when rejecting.

This is a great video illusion. I share it here because the spirit is so right on. The crowd is in a sports bar and cheering, most likely, the Boston v. Red Sox game. But it’s sooo fitting.

Back to the real world, Russia is losing a key supply line, and others weigh in on the Ferris wheel fiasco. Christopher Miller is a correspondent for Politico.
It’s 140 meters high, Putin says of his new Ferris wheel in Moscow. pic.twitter.com/e3UjPiw1i2

The thing about Ferris wheels…what goes around comes around.

Maybe it’s the Ferris wheel of fortune. Supposedly the freaking thing is already broken.
The Ferris Wheel that Putin opened in Moscow this morning? It’s already broken…

You can’t make this stuff up.
Putin is keeping up appearances for the folks back home. It also serves as a diversion from news outside their borders.
God. When will the masses everywhere smarten up to think for themselves? Plato said the unexamined life isn’t worth living. True.
I doubt the average Russian knows how badly the war is going. Putin’s been shutting down access to any news, website that doesn’t say what he wants it to. Younger Russians who are tech savvy can find a,way around the blockage, but middle-aged and older ones, accept Pravda,as 110%true. An uprising won’t happen until the reality hits them in the face like a hungry shark. If it ever does.
