You can’t kill an idea and the concept of Rudy Giuliani as the whackiest lawyer to practice law in New York City lives on, even though the former mayor himself can no longer practice law in the Empire State, according to the New YorkTimes. It’s the latet development in the theory postulated by Rick Wilson a few years back that Everything Trump Touches Dies. Giuliani was always a “man in search of a balcony” with an unnatural need for the limelight and now all that has blown up on him.

The 31-page order disbarring Mr. Giuliani from practicing law in New York largely focused on his work as the personal lawyer for Mr. Trump and his 2020 presidential campaign, as well as on lies Mr. Giuliani told in numerous forums that were “designed to create distrust of the elective system of our country in the minds of the citizens and to destroy their confidence in the legitimacy of our government.”

“The seriousness of respondent’s misconduct cannot be overstated,” the court said, finding Mr. Giuliani had “flagrantly misused his prominent position as the personal attorney for former President Trump and his campaign.

“He baselessly attacked and undermined the integrity of this country’s electoral process,” the court said, adding that in doing so, Mr. Giuliani had “not only deliberately violated some of the most fundamental tenets of the legal profession, but he also actively contributed to the national strife that has followed the 2020 presidential election, for which he is entirely unrepentant.”

That’s coming from the New York State Bar. But in the minds of New Yorkers everywhere, Rudy Lives!

Jenna Ellis can’t practice law in Colorado for three years and now Rudy can’t practice in New York. Well, what is Donald Trump going to do when he needs counsel? We don’t have an answer for that other than keep flipping through your address book or the lawyers’ directory, because Rudy is no more.

And we also don’t know when he’s going to come up with the millions of dollars that he owes to the two election workers in Georgia whose lives he blithely destroyed by making them the center of a baseless conspiracy theory. On one occasion Trump threw a $100,000 per plate fundraiser at Bedminster and that didn’t make a dent in Giuliani’s financial woes.

Giuliani is a train wreck. As of the time of this posting he has not reponded to the news from New York but it should be interesting when he does. Very few lawyers end up getting disbarred. The state bars of each of the United States make it a point to vet everybody ahead of time. You need to provide your driving record, any evidence whatsoever that you might not be morally suited to the practice of law. Your entire life comes up for scrutiny and rightfully so.

Giuliani’s life has not been one that can bear much scrutiny for many a year now. He may have been America’s Mayor and an epic figure at one time, but he is truly living out his sunset years as a complete joke. And the sublime irony is that, like so many other people, if he simply had never bought into Donald Trump’s madness, he would be so far ahead of the game. Getting with Trump is what finally did him in.
