In an attempt to reassure the voting public that CNN will do everything possible to prevent Donald Trump from employing his tried and true debate tactic of constantly interrupting and talking over his opponent in tonight’s debate, CNN morning anchor Victor Blackwell took to Twitter to demonstrate CNN’s state-of-the-art two green button volume control system which will light up when a candidate’s opponent is speaking – and thus signal that decorum should now be observed – and the signaled candidate should shut the hell up. The problem with this set-up, at least as far as controlling the obnoxious one is concerned, is that the affected mics will not be turned off but only turned down.

Meaning that the muted candidate, when speaking at normal volume can be heard… but difficult to understand:

Oh yeah, sure that’s gonna work.

The chance that drumpf, upon being constrained, will speak at a normal volume is much less than zero. And, as you can tell by watching the video, even a slight raising of a candidate’s voice will make them disruptive, if not entirely intelligible.

Another flaw in this plan is the distance between the two podiums which, if the demonstration is accurate, appears to be only a matter of six or eight feet. If Biden’s mic is still on while Trump’s is muted, Trump, who has a history of wandering during debates, only needs to take a couple of steps towards the President’s podium to effectively increase his volume.

Twitterers noted other drawbacks:

Exactly

Yup

Maybe.

Yup

💯💯💯

And the CNN guy didn’t even rise his voice.

No one does.

Yup

Gaffer tape might work.

💯

No chance.

🤣🤣🤣

For the record, my prediction is that President Biden will come off better tonight, but CNN, and nearly every other new org, will claim that he did not.

That is just the way it’s going to be all the way into November.

  1. I’m planning on waiting until Friday to get the highlights. The thought of listening to that voice of Von Shitzinpants for more than 2 seconds makes me ill-I cannot imagine how sick I would become being subject to more than an hour of it.

  2. CNN, being run now by right wingers had no intention of doing anything to stop this fascist from running his loud mouth. They are Lucy with the football. Everyone in America knows he follows NO PHUCKING RULES! Hey CNN remember January 6th???? A shock collar would have worked giving off an electric shock everytime he shouts over Biden. I would have watched if he was pissing himself while in a spasm. We’ll see if he shows but if he does just expect him to run over the moderators like roadkill and break every goddamn rule. I know I do.

  3. The shock collar is a good idea. Plus, it would be fun to watch him scream like the WATB he is when they zap his fat ass.
I’m thinking either a clear partition between the podiums or maybe even soundproof booths like in the old gameshows.

  4. Ridiculous. What’s the point of just reducing the volume? Shut it off entirely until it’s his turn. And if he becomes animated and distracting, shut off the video as well.
