Former George W. Bush Asst. Deputy AG John Yoo, who wrote the Torture Memos to justify W’s use of torture against suspected terrorists in 2002, appeared on Jesse Watters’ prime time Fox television show to also justify possible future attacks on Trump’s political rivals, saying…

…”You have to retaliate against them in exactly the same way until you get some deterrence … If we’re not going to become a banana republic, unfortunately, we’re going to have to use banana republic means,”

Of course Yoo did not offer any examples of Democrats using such language and threatening violence as he ran his mouth:

“Republican loyalists to Donald Trump are encouraging violence ahead of the 2024 election, and MSNBC brought the receipts.

MSNBC’s Katie Phang mentioned the “red light” of warning was flashing about American democracy.

“Harrowing new threats from right-wing leaders saying out loud what the vengeance and retribution that Trump vows is going to look like,” she said.

The latest warning is from John Yoo, a little-known W. Bush administration staffer at the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel. What he has become most known for are the memos justifying the use of torture on those captured in Iraq and Afghanistan during the so-called “War on Terror.”

Phang explained that Yoo isn’t trying to justify the use of torture on possible terrorists. Now, “he’s trying to justify Trump’s attacks on domestic political rivals.”

“You have to retaliate against them in exactly the same way until you get some deterrence … If we’re not going to become a banana republic, unfortunately, we’re going to have to use banana republic means,” Yoo said during a conservative conference.“

It’s not bad enough we have to listen to the Diapered Don spout off his inanities and threats at his bund rallies, he also has to trot out his minions on live TV to try to intimidate us.

You can watch Katie’s report on YouTube below. Yoo’s commentary begins at 1:38:

Of course these threats would be a lot more terrifying if they were not being made by a couple of dweebs like Watters and Yoo.

Still, one can imagine that Trump has some rougher trade all lined up to enforce his fascist agenda if he regains office.

We have to vote in November in the largest numbers we have ever mustered to keep these brown shirts far away from the levers of power.

  1. Hate to harp on this but dems have let Republicans get away with things. LBJ let Nixon get away with “treason “ when Nixon let war continue (and then longer than imagined . Reagan had a deal with Iran… that blossomed into Iran contra. Note: pardons in both instances… all good🤦🏻‍♂️. Bush v gore: couldn’t do much about it… dems only had 60 senate votes for 72 days (and hind sight … no will to fix SC ). However Obama had no will to go after Wall Street or let a special prosecutor investigate… the Bush AG (Hispanic, name evades me, but ahole I think said that SC was correct on prez immunity 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️) and this clown on torture memos and acts.

    • Alberto Gonzales. Who was rumored to have been “up” for a possible Supreme Court slot. Until when he was AG, it was discovered that he’d fired several U. S. attorneys who’d resisted directives emanating from the White House to go after political enemies. Um, sound familiar today, 2024?

  2. If we’re not going to have a dictatorship like North Korea, unfortunately we’ll have to machinegun people our leader doesn’t like in broad daylight in front of City Hall.
We don’t want to, but you’re forcing us.

  3. How easy it is to sit in comfort and advocate for the suffering of the innocent. Doesn’t sound like Jesus’ teachings or behavior.

  4. Well Yoo, you’re not running for…anything actually but certainly not for the position of Mosiach so hows about we use violence against you? Seems fair. Sure as shit is sensible.

Here might be a better idea: STFU Yoo until you have something intelligent to add to the national discourse. Might as well sew your lips shut since that day will never come.
