You may recall that a Janury reset of the Trump administration was predicted here and elsewhere. Kash Patel’s name was on that list, Pete Hegseth’s certainly was, and also Dan Bongino. Of the three the most likely to depart was Bongino and that is how it is playing out. He’s packing up his office and it looks like January will be the departure date. I’m sure that he’s thrilled to bring the charade of being a lawman to an end and head back to podcasting, his best use of his “talents.” As for the FBI, they’re probably high fiving and dragging bottles of scotch from hidiing places to celebrate.
FBI deputy director Dan Bongino is clearing out his office after reportedly admitting he will be leaving the bureau within weeks, according to The New York Times.
Amid the never-ending saga surrounding the will-they, won’t-they release of the Epstein files, Bongino has told people around him he could depart “as soon as this week or as late as mid-January,” the Times reported.
The outlet said the former Secret Service special agent has already begun sending office “knick-knacks” and other personal items back to Florida, where he intends to return to pro-Trump broadcasting ahead of the 2026 midterms.
It was reported by former Politico journalist Rachael Bade last week that Bongino was to be Trump’s “fall-guy” over Epstein, although the FBI denied this to be the case to the Daily Beast in the strongest terms.
Trump-friendly outlet Fox News, citing sources, has disputed that Bongino’s office is already empty, but conceded that his imminent departure is a “possibility.”
Bongino, 51—a longtime Trump loyalist who took the job in February—has publicly acknowledged the tension between his prior media role and his FBI position.
That “tension” is that Bongino is more comfortable with conspiracy theory and hype than with actual law enforcement, which is a bird of a different feather. Bongino’s making the right career move here. I applaud him for that. He sees the handwriting on the wall. I merely wonder what it will take for Kash Patel to realize how ridiculously unsuited he is for his position or better yet, for Pete Hegseth to wake up. I don’t hold out a lot of hope for either of those two although Trump may find a way to do a Marge Greene 180 and eliminate his two lieutenants, if they continue to screw up, which is a virtual certainty. January could be clean sweep month, don’t be surprised.

I believe Hegseth and Patel are hopelessly disillusioned about their fantastic suitability for their positions. It’s unfathomable that neither of them has figured that out yet!
Um, with respect, there’s not a single member of Drumpf’s administration (including Drumpf himself) who’s “suitable” for their positions.
Also, I think you meant “delusional” instead of “disillusioned.” The former is the hopelessly out-of-shape football fan who swears he could’ve made that 45-yard field goal (even with a 30-mph wind against him); the latter is a football fan whose team was the only one with a perfect season going into the playoffs (winning with a minimum 30-point margin) and which then gets blown out 72-0 in the first round by a team which just barely qualified for the playoffs.
what wss the point in hanging around if they weren’t even going to give him a gun?
