If you took a look at the confirmation hearings today, you will notice that Pam Bondi just can’t bring herself to admit that which has been proven in courts of law over 60 times, that there was zero interference in the 2020 election. She simply will not say it. That is most alarming. There are only two reasons for her not wanting to admit the truth. One of them is prosaic and other one menancing. The prosaic explanation is that the MAGA cult demands that all followers claim that Donald Trump won in 2020. That’s their dogma, that’s how it must be.

And Bondi may want to go along with that for the simple reason that it keeps the heat off of her. That makes sense. Or, here’s the menacing explanation: Bondi intends to join with other MAGA forces to do a memory hole of the 2020 election and rewrite history. This is not some wild eyed conspiracy theory here. Ask Mike Collins of Georgia, who not only claimed that Trump won the 2020 election but that January 6 was an outing of “peaceful grandmothers.”

Representative Mike Collins has taken the Republican rewrites of the January 6 riot to new heights.

“On #ThisDayInHistory in 2021, thousands of peaceful grandmothers gathered in Washington, D.C., to take a self-guided, albeit unauthorized, tour of the U.S. Capitol building,” Collins wrote in a particularly stupid post on X Monday.

“Earlier that day, President Trump held a rally, where supporters walked to the Capitol to peacefully protest the certification of the 2020 election. During this time, some individuals entered the Capitol, took photos, and explored the building before leaving,” Collins continued,  sanewashing the violent siege that led to the deaths of five people, cost taxpayers more than $2 million, and set off a delayed-released coup that finally came to fruition with Trump’s return to the White House.

The Georgia Republican stayed strapped to the soapbox, lamenting the “peaceful protestors” who’d been tried for their participation in the violent insurrection.

“Since then, hundreds of peaceful protestors have been hunted down, arrested, held in solitary confinement, and treated unjustly. Countless hours and taxpayer dollars have been spent pursuing innocent grandmothers and raiding President Trump’s home, while terrorists and millions of illegal immigrants continue to cross our nation’s borders, causing havoc in our communities,” Collins wrote. “Thankfully, President Trump has announced that, on day one of his presidency, he will grant pardons to nonviolent defendants.”

Maybe he will. Or maybe he’ll pardon the lot of them and then we’ll have convicted criminals feeling empowered to do who knows what on Trump’s watch — not to mention sociopaths who will now see that as a green light to do whatever they want to do. In any event, here is the next Attorney General of the United States and she can’t be depended upon to state a simple truth about a commonly known fact.

This is not encouraging. What is to prevent this woman, who won’t even speak a simple truth under oath, from getting into power and then along with Kash Patel and his group of thugs, rewriting history? If this isn’t the foreshadowing of that, then I don’t know what is.

Not according to Kash Patel, who has made it clear that he intends to go after Trump’s enemies, and you know some of the names already. Anthony Fauci and Liz Cheney are two. Or, maybe that was only a “joke.” That’s the catch all excuse in Trump world when a comment is so far beyond the pale that there’s a need to walk it back.

Bookmark that one indeed. It would be nice to believe it were true. We could look forward to America being America for four more years if it were true. But Bondi got dragged into this at the last minute after a truly horrific candidate, Matt Gaetz, got thrown under the bus early on.

Two good questions. Let’s see if Bondi remembers the latter one. Let’s see what she then will argue is “proper” vs. “improper.” The way she seems to believe that it is proper to refuse to answer a simple historical fact of Joe Biden winning the 2020 election is our first clue that maybe she’s got her own definition of what those words mean.

  2. Answering all these questions under oath in front of congress and the public mean nothing to them even after the fact when they are caught. There are no repercussions and we have seen this playbook time and time again. This is just going through the motions for the show.
