Revenge is a dish best served cold   William Shakespeare

I always loved that line by Shakespeare, mainly because I agreed so wholeheartedly with it. Some prefer their revenge red hot, with the passion of the moment fueling their vengeance. For me that always fell flat, because once the heat died away, you were left with an empty feeling. If I was that pissed, I wanted time to pass, so that I could coldly choose the spot to slide the shiv, for the maximum effect.

And as such, I am really beginning to like what I see right now. As Lawrence O’Donnell likes to point out, Donald Trump will be a defendant for the rest of his natural life. He has not only the Manhattan District Attorney using his tax and business records to look at hammering him with racketeering charges, now the Fulton County District Attorney has the state’s preeminent racketeering lawyer advising her on the possibility of racketeering charges against Trump for his attempts to subvert the accurate accounting of the Georgia general election. And he is going to need top quality legal representation to fight that off, which costs money. In this case, mega money.

And we’re not even getting started here. Representative Bennie Thompson, in conjunction with the NAACP, filed a federal civil lawsuit against Trump for violations of the KKK Act in provoking the January 6th insurrection against the US Capitol to stop the members of congress from duly certifying the election.  As a civil suit, Trump is not liable for incarceration, instead monetary damages are requested. This is a completely kind of lawsuit, and so Trump is going to need different, highly qualified lawyers to fight this off.

And just s couple of days ago, US Representative Eric Swalwell filed a separate, offshoot civil lawsuit against Trump, his son, and Rudy Giuliani for similar offenses. According to constitutional law professor Lawrence Tribe, on The Last Word tonight, the suit is exquisitely crafted, and will have no problem surviving a motion to dismiss, and moving on to discovery. And even if Trump can use the same lawyers on this lawsuit that he uses on the Thompson/NAACP lawsuit, lawyers charge by billable hours, and these lawsuits are going to be damn near a full tine hob.

And now we’re just finally getting started. Because the normal way for things to go would be for more and more Representatives to simply join into one of the existing lawsuit, and make a class action suit out of the original suit. But each member of congress would be free to file their own separate suit, requiring individual representation and more billable hours to fight them. As would any Capitol police officers injured during the assault, as well as staff members who suffered injuries or trauma.

Now this is what I, talking about when saying revenge being a dish best served cold. Trump is never going to run for President again, instead he is going to spend the rest of his life in court. And just think, we never even touched on any possible federal charges stemming from his shenanigans as President. And every single federal lawsuit that is filed requires a team of defense attorneys, all charging high rate billable hours, since Trump is such a high risk client.

If you want to hit a craven egomaniac like Trump, hit him in the wallet, that’s where he lives. Now you know why Trump is locked in such a life and death struggle with the RNC over their use of his name and image for fundraising. He needs every penny he can get to fund his legal defense, and if enough lawsuits are filed and approved, then it will reach the point where it swamps his ability to fund raise to cover his expenses. Let the good times roll.

  1. I’m just wondering where Trump’s going to find these lawyers? Or have any potential attorneys figured out that they are going to require a BIG deposit (payable when the attorney and/or firm is officially engaged) before taking on Trump as a client?

  2. I agree with the idea of serving revenge in a cool, calm manner. I think of Phil Collins’ song “In the air tonight”. Bide your time and when the time comes, they will never see it coming.

  3. You left wing turds love revenge unless you are on the receiving end of it which most likely going to happen sooner rather than later. Every single criminal and civil case you left leaning dirt bag brought against Trump failed. But it’s all you have. Frivolous law suits and criminal probes. You days are numbered in this country.

  4. He is a high-risk client notorious for not paying his bills.
Good luck attracting the talent he needs.
He’ll end up with the law firm of Giuliani, Powell, and Wood (or Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe).

  5. These civil suits always put me in mind of the OJ Simpson trials: he got acquitted on criminal charges, then was sued successfully in civil court for megabucks in damages, effectively bankrupting him as well as destroying whatever brand he might have retained.
