Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times it’s a way of life. Barron Trump is a mysterious figure. You hear all kinds of right-wing gossip about what a genius he is, how he keeps people enthralled at dinner parties with his anecdotes. There are even rumors that he’s multi lingual, just as Melania is purportedly multi-lingual. To that I say, when I see Barron chatting in French with Brigitte Macron, then I’ll believe it.
And you probably remember back in May of this year when news broke that Barron was going to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention. Many people were shocked at this. Three days later Melania’s office issued a statement walking it all back. So now indulge me and I’ll show you the pattern. People were surprised in May that Melania was going to allow Barron to expose himself to the rough and tumble of politics. It came as no surprise when she quashed it.
Now this week, Barron was supposed to appear on Twitter/X for a spaces podcast with his father and two older half-brothers. This was Donald Trump’s launch of World Liberty Financial, his newest business endeavor, this time in the world of crypto currency and world banking. Barron was supposed to be on the podcast and he was going to speak to the issue of crypto currency and Daddy’s company. Crickets. As the Daily Beast put it, Barron “ghosted” his own family’s business launch.
Trump’s youngest son Barron, 18, was nowhere to be found when it came time for him to speak, some two hours into the meandering promotional for World Liberty Financial, which even Trump’s crypto sector allies reportedly think is a stupid idea.
“He’s not here anymore,” said Farokh Sarmad, the crypto entrepreneur who hosted the livestream on X. “We took too long. We’re gonna try and get him back.” It would have marked Barron’s first major speaking role in public.
“Damned teenagers,” joked Trump’s eldest child, 46-year-old Donald Jr., who sat in on the livestream along with his 40-year-old brother, Eric.
Documents obtained by CoinDesk show that World Liberty Financial is reportedly being touted as a decentralized finance (DeFi) money market, essentially a place where investors can borrow, lend, and make interest on crypto. Among the Trump family members listed on the company’s team are Don Jr. and Eric, both “Web3 Ambassadors,” while their father is “Chief Crypto Advocate.” The most revered title of “DeFi Visionary” is reserved for Barron.
There it is again, Barron as the wizard of something. And there it is again, Barron going to make a debut, speak in public, establish himself as an adult in the world. At least in his father’s world. And he bails, once more.
The Republican National Convention went on without Melania until the end of the very last night when she showed up and Barron was not with her. He was conspicuous by his absence, in fact. And ghosting a podcast is a bit extreme. All that was involved there was picking up a phone.
So what’s the connection? Maybe Barron does in fact intend to make these appearances and launch himself as a part of right-wing aristocracy and maybe at the last minute he thinks better of it and bails out. All that we know for sure is he bailed on one high profile appearance, at the RNC, and then a second appearance, a podcast on Twitter/X, that a lot of MAGAs would have heard.
I guess ultimately you’re going to have to ask him to know what’s what. But we’ve got the beginnings of a pattern here. Let’s see who he ghosts next. Maybe he’s got a classic approach avoidance conflict. Part of him wants to get up in front of MAGA world and be heard and another part of him dreads it.
Until he does decide to do something in public, all we know is that he towers over his Secret Service detail while he attends NYU. And no, we don’t know who’s picking up the tab, because Secret Service protection of a former president’s children is supposed to end at 16. Barron is 18 now.
My bet is Malaria walked up, snatched him up by the ear and shouted NYET!!!
Either that, or he is that intelligent and is hedging his bet until after the election…if Fat Elvis wins, he’ll probably join the criminal enterprise……if Geratric Jeezuz loses, it will be much easier to separate himself from the loser/ criminal elements of the family.
Actually, in Slovenian (Melania’s likely first language), she would’ve shouted NE. That’s also the word in Serbian, Croatian and Macedonian. In fact, in most Slavic languages, it’s “ne.” In Ukrainian, it’s “ni” and in Slovakian and Belarusian, it’s “nie.” It seems Russian is the only “nyet” (and “nye” is used as a negative particle akin to the English “not” in a negative sentence like “Trump is not intelligent” or “Don’t vote for Trump”; the former is “Трамп не умен” and the latter is “Не голосуй за Трампа”–pronounce those as “Tramp* nye umen” and “Nye golosuy za Trampa”).
*The reason for “Tramp/Trampa” is Russian doesn’t have that “uh” sound but an “a” in Russian can be unstressed so it comes off as an “uh.”

40 years ago I lived in the same building in Ottawa as the Yugoslav ambassador to Canada and we were socially together often.
In 2013, I went into the Foreign Ministry building in Beograd and asked if there might be any way at all to find Voyislav Nikolic, and the guy looked at me like I came from Pluto and not Canada, and asked if I had any concept at all how many records were lost or destroyed during the (and he smiled wryly) “troubles”. Sadly, I accepted that my quest was a little Quixotic 🙁
while I like socks theory I read elsewhere that daddy yammered on semi-coherently for an extended period and barron just got tired of waiting around and left.
Someday, maybe perhaps, they ALL will get tired and leave.
I’m not sure which pundit it was (I think it was Stephanie Ruhl) who said Barron has become good pals with convicted felon Martin Shrkeli. That should tell you all you need to know about Barron Trump. A true chip off the old block, having ‘only the (ahem) best’ people around!
Hard to see how he could turn out differently. “Nature”, i.e. Daddy’s genes, ain’t all that great, and “Nurture”, i.e. Mommy’s spoiling and Daddy’s neglect, ain’t all that wonderful either.
