I never thought an incumbent convention speech could be bad, but I was wrong. Donald Trump’s acceptance speech was interminable, boring and he kept losing his place on the teleprompter — and this while sweat poured off him. Night One of the RNC was actually the best, with Junior and Kimberly wasted and motor mouthing. That said, Melania did have one memorable moment. Here’s a gif that captures it. Aderall or anxiety? You call it

If you haven’t seen the Melania Robot clip, it’s great.

One of the memorable moments was from Mr. Noun Verb 9/11. It’s been said about Rudy Giuliani, that if he had only gotten out of politics after he ran for president, that he would have preserved his dignity and still have some cache, and that buildings would be named after him. Now, his legacy is that of a pathetic sell out, not to mention a drunk. But he was arguably the most off the walls tonight, ranting pure conspiracy theory about Antifa, BLM and Bill DeBlasio. It will be merciful for Giuliani when Trump loses and he’s finally finished, too.

Then Ivanka came up with the great line of the night, about how her father’s tweets are “a little rough around the edges, but the results speak for themselves.”

Then it went to the main event, the acceptance speech of Cantaloupe Castro. This was dullsville. He just reiterated the same boring talking points that you’ve heard before, and assured the evangelicals of his faith in Gaahd. I kept waiting for something new or exciting and it never came, just the usual roster of lies. He signed the Veterans Choice act — no, Obama did in 2014, the heathen Democrats cut “under God” from the pledge of allegiance, bla bla. But my favorite has always been that Trump claims that he’s “done more for African Americans since any president since Abraham Lincoln.” And he just won’t stop his maniacal assertion that Joe Biden wants to defund the police. New York Times:

Some cities have been moving to cut police department budgets in recent weeks. Mr. Trump implies here that Mr. Biden is a supporter of such cuts, but Mr. Biden has made clear that he opposes defunding and instead has proposed “to get police more money.” Mr. Biden has also expressed support for the Second Amendment, saying that he himself is a gun owner. Mr. Biden does propose some firearm restrictions, such as a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He also supports background checks and other regulations.

And of course this dovetailed with, elect Biden and “he’ll confiscate your guns” and “the second amendment will be gone.” The New York Times link will take you to all the lies that Mango Mussolini spoke. The only real takeaways from tonight are that 1. He’s got his talking points carved in stone, don’t expect anything new 2. He will not address daily realities like the number of dead or unemployed Americans, or the hurricanes, or the asteroid heading towards the earth, because he’s too busy ranting about socialism, and 3.  It’s lies and culture war from now until November 3.

  1. One can’t help but wonder how many speakers at the RNC will be indicted or incarcerated within the next year. The whole dog and pony show was a textbook version of who’s who of criminality and corruption.

      • Himself can barely put together sentences now, never mind reading a teleprompter and making it sound like he cares.

  2. I can see why “Melanie” would be pissed at wannabe Princess Ivanka, having had to be the one holding Trump’s hand (to keep him from falling face first like Gerald Ford down the steps of that plane!) for that long, slow walk down a “staircase of death” more fraught with danger than that “ramp of death” at West Point.

Sure, she knew she’d have to sit in the audience, but she’d thought she’d fulfilled all her contractual obligations with her speech the other night. (It had been widely reported she wouldn’t be out campaigning – that her speech would be her public swan song) She was probably pissed at Ivanka for not being the one to have to hold Trump’s hand for such a long time. It’s worth keeping in mind that back when she (Melania) was up in NYC using that as leverage to renegotiate her pre-nup and get a better deal (more money – less number of times she have to fuck Donald) Ivanka was making noises about taking on the role of erstwhile First Lady and hell, we all know Ivanka is who Trump really wants by his side and in his bed. My guess is that the disgraceful naturalization as campaign event (in OUR WH no less!) notwithstanding Trump probably held up a Stephen Miller “special” – an authorization to de-naturalize her and her parents!

Anyway, Melania moved to DC and thwarted her dreams of playing at being First Lady and Melania is surely all too familiar with Trump’s sick obsession with his daughter (I can hear the pre-nup renegotiation – “I deserve a million dollars for every time you’ve asked me why I can’t be like Ivanka!”) so there’s no love lost between them. And now we learn there seem to be tapes of disparaging comments from Melania which Ivanka of course knows about. Trump of course loves it. The idea of “two ‘hot’ chicks having a catfight and ripping each other’s clothes off in the process” is the kind of sick thinking he surely has engaged in.

Seriously though, I was afraid to do anything last night. I was filled with rage at the staging, and if I were able to leap up instead of the slow, painful way I now stand up I doubt I’d still have a working TV after (and after already being worked up and fighting for control over the whole setting of the speech at OUR WH) he did that turn and hand motion back at the building, and even through out the “I’m here an the Democrats aren’t” line.

The more I think about it, the more I really do think that should we prevail this fall Biden should live in Blair House like Truman did since the VP’s residence has been the Naval Observatory for a long time now. So that all the historical items/artifacts can be taken out by the Smithsonian and stored away while the whole building is demolished and rebuilt from brand new foundation up. With Truman they only ripped out the interior to rebuild the place but left the outer walls standing. From where I sit the only way the White House can truly be the people’s house again is to destroy the structure in which the flaming orange human shaped rectum has soiled the entire place and rebuild it from scratch – and I’m talking even a brand new foundation. The cornerstone George Washington laid can be placed in a Smithsonian exhibit on the rebuilding of the White House.

    • It’s gonna take a lot of Lysol wipes, Denis! Maybe demotion and rebuilding is a better plan. Would YOU want to use the toilet…?

      • Well, there’s one place where Trump and “toilets” converge where I’d actually be delighted to relieve myself. That is, should I outlive him and be able to travel to wherever they plant his ugly ass. If you catch my drift.

  3. I didn’t watch any of the RNC, but what bothers me the most is that they used the White House for the last night. They act like they own the place, when it is the “peoples’ house”. Their disrespect and total lack of integrity make me sick to my stomach.

  4. Looks like they cleaned out all the flag suppliers in the DC area. Have they never ever considered a quarter-mile of bunting draped over backdrop frames?
