Something is terribly wrong in America. I don’t pretend to know where our culture went south, but it did. I remember all the machismo movies where John Wayne would lock and load and save the world. I don’t remember John Wayne ever going into a school and killing children. The latest mass shooting is at a high school in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The details are the same old, same old. There are “multiple” victims, but no number yet. First responders are on the scene. Soon we’ll find out what disturbed soul was lashing out at what demons and why that translated as shooting at high school kids.

Another day, another developing story on yet another mass shooting in America. Sweet Jesus. Is this what it’s going to be like? Is this the new normal?

  1. It’s not our “culture” that’s somehow responsible for these atrocities, it’s our guns, guns, guns — more than one per person, 40% of all the world’s guns in civilian hands, more guns than Yemen, Afghanistan and all Europe combined. We have no constitutional right to own them and carry them everywhere, any more than we have a right to drive on the left side of the road because driving on the right side destroys our freedom. No constitutional rights are absolute, and that includes the Second Amendment. It’s long past time for this nation to grow up.

  2. This one was about sixty minutes north of me by car. It’s worth mentioning that our useless governor had just a few days before signed a concealed carry law which makes him look twice as foolish now. Gods, I’m really beginning to hate this state.

  3. Update on the shooting: apparently the only casualties were one officer (who is wounded but stable, conscious and in good spirits) and the shooter himself (who was a student, refused to comply with an order to come out of the bathroom and got himself killed by opening fire). This could have been a lot worse.

  4. And all we’ll get from our “representatives” in congress is bulls**t “thoughts and prayers”.
This is why when gun nuts fret over Joe Biden taking away their precious toys, I respond that that if a head-case murdering children in an elementary school didn’t move the needle, they have nothing to fear.
