Again, you would pelt a novelist who wrote this scene with rotten tomatoes or possibly even stones, because this is simply too unbelievable: How could a character possibly be so utterly narcissistic and out of touch with reality that he could bill himself as the one and only cure for all social ills, kind of a walking, talking penicillin. If only he is there, POOF! the issue fades into nothingness, whatever it is. But in point of fact, such a being exists. Fiction could never have created him (well, alright, Kurt Vonnegut could have) but life did.
And he believes it. Trump utterly forgets that he supported the Romney/Ryan ticket in 2012, he utterly forgets that when Ryan was the Speaker during Trump’s first two years that he could do no wrong, Trump is the ultimate amnesiac when it comes to what actually takes place on any given day. The only thing he registers in the moment is how deferential his sycophants have or have not been that day.
This is why Lindsey Graham jumped back on board the Trump train after January 6. After he was stalked through an airport and heard the boos crescendoing in his home county during a Trump rally, Graham couldn’t handle it. He’s too thin skinned and gutless to take a stance against Trump and maintain it. And probably so would Paul Ryan and Mike Pence be, and even Mitch McConnell, if they had political futures.
Ryan has basically nailed his coffin shut, Pence is out of the game, so whatever he says is elder statesman and/or hasbeen commentary, depending on how you felt about Pence in the first place. Chris Christie has maintained his original rancor against Trump but he’s not running for any office anytime soon.
McConnell could fight the good fight but I think he’s just played out. He’s not going to be part of any new GOP and he just wants to walk into the sunset with whatever dignity he has left. He knows Trump will lose but why not show up and give the roulette wheel a spin. Maybe lightning will strike twice like it did in 2016. The last thing he wants to do is antagonize the lunatic and read Coco Chow tweets for the next four months and maybe beyond.
So they all play along. They all act as if this is normal and the few that don’t, Ryan, Pence, Christie, John Bolton is another, will have the distinction of having finally spoken the truth and they have a clean conscience. For the rest, I predict that it will be like Nazi Germany in 1946 when nobody was really a Nazi, they were just tricked into going along with the Nazis. That will be an interesting part of our history and it’s just down the road a piece. We’ll be there before you know it.
Someone over at DK is saying cannon has been removed from the docs case. I watched the MTN youtube video and nowhere did I hear the guy say she was removed. I can find nothing stating she has been removed and it seems to me like that would make very headline/lead story everywhere. Does anyone actually know anything about this?
Pretty sure it’s just a rerun of when she was overturned the first time around – mixup in dates maybe.
Ok. Yeah, I still haven’t seen anything to the effect of her having her ass kicked off the case. Something like that would be, I should think, newsworthy.
