Make no mistake, the roster of nine House Speaker candidates is as right-wing as you’re going to find anywhere and all of them are election deniers in one form or fashion. And a total of zero voted to impeach Donald Trump for inciting a riot at the Capitol. And the same total of zero voted to establish the January 6 commission. The insurrection and the Big Lie is just fine with these folks. And one of them is going to lead the lower chamber of Congress in the not too distant future.
Don’t be fooled: While 2 of the 9 Republicans didn’t decertify the election results on January 6, BOTH of them signed an amicus brief demanding SCOTUS overturn the 2020 election. That means ALL 9 Speaker candidates are election deniers. This is not normal. But it’s who they are.

So, while only 7 of the 9 voted to decertify the election results (that’s disqualifying enough), the two others still spread lies about the 2020 election results. They’re all dangerous. This is what the Republican Party has become & normalized. We must be alarmed. & vote them OUT

And it gets worse, naturally. “Just five of the nine voted to avert a government default related to the debt ceiling, and five voted to avert a government shutdown by supporting the current 45-day continuing resolution. That’s an ominous possible predictor of what could happen in less than four weeks, when the federal government will shut down if the House (and Senate) do not pass legislation to fund the government,” according to NCRM:

Only four voted to support additional aid to Ukraine.
None voted for bipartisan gun control. None voted for the bipartisan Infrastructure Act. Just one voted for reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act.
None voted for ensuring the right to contraception, which some warn is a battle Republicans are gearing up to wage.

“Blowing up government is the larger goal. Purity is a virtue. So is disruption. So it is not a great surprise that McCarthy, who spent much of his career, encouraging disruption, and who has no core values, failed. Nor is it a great surprise that they cannot find a replacement.”

The MAGA is strong with all of them. This is the state of the GOP right now. There is one POC on this roster and he’s far right-wing, and no women. When they tell you who they are, believe them. And this is the message the GOP is telegraphing, loud and clear.

If republican voters aren’t sending their best and brightest (and they are not), how can we expect anything other than C.T. idiots for speaker? I wouldn’t say that the composition of Congress is entirely Merrick Garland’s fault, if at all. It is still the deluded & obsessed supporters of Trump who keep voting for these MAGA MORONS who have no business being in Congress. The voters must be convinced of their incompetence, (which the MAGAS are giving ample proof of) & encouraged to vote for more appropriate candidates.
Admittedly, I was getting rather impatient at how long it was taking to get any sort of prosecutions going for DON THE CON until Jack Smith was installed as Special Prosecutor. It would be wonderful to see some like investigations & prosecutions of the Insurrectionists in the House & Senate also & hopefully we will eventually.

I think with all the chaos around Trump at this minute in time, the Republicans are using that as a distraction while they try to sneak the worst of the worst into office … maybe a shot from the Democrats is in need …
Our leader in the House as top man in the minority, could squeak some about the true wasted people running as the next Speaker … The voting records above should become billboard friendly … the highest traffic systems should have their names listed as the crummy Republicans they are, when passengers look up on subways, it seems to me there are banners posted near the roof and casual hammering home the names until everyone has an opportunity to recognize the criminal activities these vermin support …
It’s time for a change before the end not after the implosion … some of our champions as knowledgeable as they are can beat on these do-wrongs in oversight meetings and podium statements … Trump’s already getting pushed out of business, his mouth sinks him more every day … I can envision his perp-walk out of the Court room now …
