I am not one to make fun of anyone’s faith, I really am not. If your faith inspires you and moves you to be a better person, do good things for other people, be less self-centered (something I need help with), then who am I to question how it came about?
But when faith stops becoming faith and is nothing but poorly disguised political groupings, you’re free game.
As the invaluable AL.com reports, Pastor John Kilpatrick of Church of His Presence in Daphne, Alabama, is one of those who has gone way past “faith” in anything beyond far right politics, all based upon a god, of which. I am entirely unfamiliar. Pastor Kilpatrick prayed in tongues (okay, I am not making fun of that, again, not my place), but then in English – at least so far as I can discern, stated: Via RawStory
“When Elijah faced Jezebel, he was facing witchcraft,” he said. “What’s happening right now in America, is witchcraft’s trying to take this country over. It’s witchcraft that’s trying to take America back over.”
Robert Mueller is one of the world’s best prosecutors, and when he is coming after you, I am sure it looks an awful lot like witchcraft is involved, but I suspect it is just old fashioned dogged work, with genius legal insight and forty years of experience.
I might’ve let him go, Pastor Kilpatrick, but for his next refrain:
“I am not being political, but I don’t see how President Trump bears up under it,” Kilpatrick told his church. “He is as strong as I’ve ever seen a man be. But here’s what the Holy Spirit said to me last night and what He said for me to tell you. He said, ‘Tell the church that so far, Trump has been dealing with Ahab. But Jezebel’s fixing to step out from the shadows.’ That’s what the Lord said to me.”
I suspect that no one in his church is the least bit interested in what the lord said to me last night, through the Holy Spirit (in fact, I don’t have any idea what was said to me, granted, I wasn’t listening as closely as I might, if I knew that God was addressing politics), but I wish they would listen to me counter his point.
How the hell do these people remain outside taxation? Clearly this is a “religion” that is so intertwined with politics that even they have no interest in even faking that a line exists between the two.
“Jezebel?”
Jesus. One might get confused, whether this guy is blaming the porn stars and centerfolds for getting Trump in trouble, but in the context of the sermon, it doesn’t seem like he’s bothered by those women, nor by what Trump did with them. I’m glad he’s not bothered by the women, but you’d think that he’d be a bit bothered by the man so caught up in pleasing little Donald that he’s paying six figures all over the place just to keep his mistresses to keep quiet. Too bad Melania doesn’t feel more free to talk, she’s the one whom I’d dearly like to hear from right now. I would really like to know what she thinks about her husband’s morality, God, and what the country is “doing to him.” (We might have to specify which country we’re talking about in hearing from Melania.
“Witchcraft was in full control and witchcraft was what knocked Elijah out of his position, took him out of power,” he went on. “Oh my God. I heard the Lord say there’s going to be an attempt to take him out of power. Let’s stand and pray right now.”
He then started speaking in tongues, before saying “We’ve got to pray for this man.”
Let’s all take it as a given that God listens to and answers prayers. Right now, there are kids lying in hospitals with cancer (puppies in hospitals -still – with snake bites), there are families that are near destitute, and we’re praying for a man because he might be held accountable for his actions?
This isn’t a religious faith, it is a secular cult. This “sermon” ought to result in the loss in its tax exempt status. This is nothing more than a Trump rally led by a fanatic that prays in tongues – I guess attempting to be more like the object of his affection, whose political speeches often seem to be done in tongues.
