So, a lot of people noticed this and wondered whether the world just switched the whole matter/anti-matter thing. Our AOC, the woman who may be the future of the Democratic party and a possible future president of the United States, was spotted seated next to the lowest pond scum of MAGA, America First, Racist… Paul Gosar of Arizona. A man who has transformed into someone so horrible that his own family essentially disowned him and ran an ad in his district, begging the voters in Arizona to vote for someone else.
So, as Shakespeare famously wrote: WTF?
Well, we finally have an answer.

Gaetz told Ocasio-Cortez that McCarthy has been telling Republicans that he’ll be able to cut a deal with Democrats to vote present, enabling him to win a majority of those present and voting, according to Ocasio-Cortez. She told Gaetz that wasn’t happening, and also double-checked with Democratic party leadership, confirming there’d be no side deal.
“McCarthy was suggesting he could get Dems to walk away to lower his threshold,” Ocasio-Cortez told The Intercept of her conversation with Gaetz on McCarthy’s failed ploy. “And I fact checked and said absolutely not.”
Excuse me for a second, while I go back to Shakespeare, who is the only writer who could fully capture this tragic comedy, Bwahahahahahahahahah. Right. AOC is going to share that the Democrats certainly do plan to help McCarthy out by disappearing or voting “present” to stop the hardliners who aren’t going to win anyway.
Gosar might think that Democrats would prefer McCarthy over Jim Jordan. But, ah, why? The more insane the GOP speaker, the more insanity one could expect. And we expected insanity anyway. But it makes 2024, both the presidential election and the Congressional election, that much easier if insanity reigns from the House.
Not that McCarthy is sane, but he’s not Jim Jordan, either.
It sounds like AOC gave Gosar a truthful answer, but wouldn’t it be awesome if she somehow played him in an alternate universe where she was able to manipulate him into something really horrible?

Sigh…Republicans still haven’t figured out how this leverage thing works vis-a-vis politics, have they?
