It’s been opined by many people that one of the problems we have in this country is that WWII is now history. So few people from that era are still alive. We read about the war in books rather than hear it from the lips of our elders.
In a day and age when that was not the case, we knew who we were as Americans and knew what we stood for — and against — in no uncertain terms.
Nowadays, the lines are blurred. We need to get in touch once again with who we are. This is a stirring ad from the Democracy Institute portion of the Lincoln Project.

Once again Americans are called to fight a rising tide of authoritarianism that threatens to sweep the nation by those who only care about their own raw political power. The people who planned and executed the attack on the Capitol on January 6th are still working to overthrow democracy and destroy individual rights.
“The values we cherish are again being threatened by individuals and groups who only care about gaining power and nothing else,” said Erin Dobson, Lincoln Democracy Institute Executive Director. “Every American who believes in democracy must reject violence and authoritarianism and get engaged in the elections this year.”
This ad is the second in a campaign to inform the public about the nature of authoritarianism and where it is taking root in America. It will run on cable news in Bedminster, NJ.
Previously known as the Franklin Project, the Lincoln Democracy Institute (LDI) will respond in real time to threats to our democracy. It will repudiate the lies of the right wing media and push back against those who threaten to use violence. LDI is the 501(c)(4) nonprofit affiliate of the Lincoln Project. Hhmmm, what does this word “Genocide” mean? Does it mean ” forcing unwilling people to fuck like rabbits”? Check your sources, Lemming: The “Palestinian” population of the Levant in 1960 was 1 million, and today its about 5.4 million! Now, square this: Israel is supposed to be the strongest army in the middle east. Israel is a nation committing genocide against the poor innocent Palestinians (we know this because “Everyone” says it so). Palestinian population has grown 540% in the last 62 years while Jewish population in Israel has grown 368% in the same period. So unless the word “genocide” means “being forced to procreate like rabbits” I will answer in my best Inigo Montoya accent “I do not think it means what you think it means”. 4) Those poor peaceful Palestinians who just want to live in peace but we horrible Jews just won’t let them. Well, yes, it’s absolutely true that when the Jews suddenly arrived out of nowhere in 1948 with a fully functional army determined to wipe the Palestinians out, the poor Palestinians were just sitting there, sitting around campfires roasting marchmallows and singing “Kumbaya my Allah” with Pete Seeger and Joan Baez. In fact, that’s all they’ve ever done those peace-seeking warm and loving Palestinians, except perhaps when they hijacked and blew up a bunch of planes in Jordan following which the King had them destroyed and what were left of them kicked out of his country. And then there was that other time when those happy-go-lucky peace-loving Palestinians killed 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics, or the time they peacefully took over an Israeli elementary school in Maalot in 1974 and killed 25 children and teachers (and these were the days BEFORE the NRA made the right to kill teachers and children mandatory American Legal rights!!!) And of course there was the 1976 hijacking of and storage of Israeli hostage- passengers at Entebbe Airport in Kampala in 1976. Of course, other than these very few events, the Palestinians have been the most peace-loving and warm honest people in the whole wide world, except for these hundreds of other attacks on Israelis and Jews and El Al and embassies, etc all over the planet up to this very day ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_political_violence ).
