Two things happening concurrently and interrelated here: Donald Trump is losing his emm effing mind. He’s made that abundantly clear the past couple of weeks and even just this morning the man has come completely unglued twice — three times if you want to count his saccaharine oozing about how close he is to the Royal Family.
That’s one thing. The other thing is that the Department of Justice filed an appeal against Judge Aileen Cannon’s appointment of a Special Master, which it is in its dead rights to do. And that action is being praised.
What draws these two incidents together so powerfully is the fact that we are a nation of laws and we do have an attorney general who is competent and the rule of law is headed to make a stand against Donald Trump, right in the middle of Main Street, USA. Think of High Noon.
Merrick Garland has taken an incredible amount of heat for what people see as delay or indifference with respect to prosecuting Trump. I think Garland is meticulous and smart. If ever there was a time to check and recheck each and every step and then check it again, we have arrived at that time. This isn’t a TV show. In the real world these things take time and if you blow it, there’s no do over. Raw Story:
“DOJ files notice of appeal in case where judge effectively froze the Trump documents investigation and imposed a special master to filter material for executive privilege,” New York Times correspondent Charlie Savage reported. “DOJ is asking judge to stay the part of her order that halted the investigation and would require showing classified docs to special master, and says will appeal if she doesn’t do that.”
The filing noted an urgency to investigate what was in the empty folders with classification headers.
“The same is true of the empty folders with ”classified’ banners’ that were among the seized materials here,” the DOJ argued. “The FBI would be chiefly responsible for investigating what materials may have once been stored in these folders and whether they may have been lost or compromised—steps that, again, may require the use of grand jury subpoenas, search warrants, and other criminal investigative tools and could lead to evidence that would also be highly relevant to advancing the criminal investigation.

This looks as close to bulletproof as one could expect. The judge can amend her widely criticized ruling, possibly save her career and national security interests are protected. Sounds good.
The only person who isn’t happy is Trump. He wanted the Special Master issue to eat up tons of time and hopefully run out a clock or two for him, while keeping him away from being indicted. Now it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen that way. So he is livid.

Someone thinks this gives cannon an out and if she has any sense she’ll take it. Her ruling indicates there are very few, if any, grey cells operating in that head of hers. Her ruling shows she has taken leave of her senses…if she had any to begin with.

We all die some day. I know I have considered when I shuffle off this mortal coil. My dad died last year, he was pretty much a total prick for the last 5 years of his life. I was the only one who visited him at the nursing home where he died. There was no funeral. He could have died surrounded by family and friends but that didn’t happen.
I am sure there will be sycophants around trump when he dies. But we all know he will die. He can make peace with that or not. Queen Elizabeth made mistakes in life, but she will be mourned by millions for how she lived her life. Trump will die and be mourned like a clown side show.
