The January 6 Committee is doing a wonderful service both to the country and to history. It’s uncovering and fleshing out details that simply were not known at the time of the second impeachment hearing of Donald Trump and these things needs to be known.
Trump is a demagogue turned fascist. Fascists, generally speaking, start out as demagogues. His inauguration speech proved that he was a demagogue as he mewled about “American Carnage.” Even Dubya commented, “that was some strange shit.”
MAGA isn’t about making America great in any way, shape or form. It is about ginning up the lunatic fringe to make them give Trump money or do his demented will. Lincoln Project shows why January 6 was no surprise.

There was a lot of premeditation and planning.
It was a cringeworthy moment in the debate. Pundits had predicted for some time that Trump, when he lost, would do something bonkers. That crack that night merely confirmed it.
He was the president of the United States, addressing a group of thugs on live television and putting them on standby. Maybe we never see this repeated in our history again.
