It is June and if the month goes down in history for nothing else, it will be remembered for public hearings by the January 6 Committee. One of the storied witnesses, if not the key witness, will be Judge J. Michael Luttig. Axios:

The upcoming public hearings, spread across two weeks, will mark the first time the committee has had an opportunity to reveal the complete findings of its months-long investigation into the breach of the Capitol.
- Committee sources told Axios they want to tell a story of Jan. 6 in such a way that the American people understand the gravity of what happened — and the role former President Trump and his associates played in ginning up the mob that tried to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power.
- The committee has not announced the roster of witnesses for the hearings.
What he’s saying: “January 6 was never about a stolen election or even about actual voting fraud,” Luttig wrote in a CNN op-ed in April.

“It was always and only about an election that Trump lost fair and square, under legislatively promulgated election rules in a handful of swing states that he and other Republicans contend were unlawfully changed.”

In that piece and other op-eds, Luttig warns that Trump’s efforts to decertify elections remain a threat to democracy.

This is good that a person of this stature stands up for democracy and opposes Donald Trump and his band of crazies.
Too f’ing many people still believe those lies about that election, and the ones since that some candidates put out when they lose (even if they lose by a landslide).
Oh, they believe their own lies. they are convinced that perfectly legitimate votes agains them were cast “illegally” because reasons. Mostly they don’t say the reasons out loud when actually contesting the vote, but they are vocal enough at their rallies that we pretty well know what they are: Black people voted. Immigrants voted. Democrats, who are all Satan worshippers and pedophiles, voted.
No matter how much proof the J6 Committee provides, Trump’s die hard supporters will never believe it because he’s been feeding them a pack of lies since 2015. He’s a pathological liar who has no ability to recognize the truth. Also, his fragile psyche doesn’t allow him to ever admit defeat. He lost, like it or not!
