This is not something that you see in a democracy, although this will ring a bell with you when you see it. Remember Donald Trump sending troops to Portland, and the troops hustled people off the streets and into unmarked vans? This is the same vibe.
What is horrible here is that this woman isn’t actually a protester. She has a sign and on the sign is written the words “two words” in Russian, which is an allusion to “No War.” That was legitimately on other placards born by protesters.
But not in this case. In this case, having any kind of a placard is enough. Having an empty picture frame might be enough. Making a heart shape with your fingers might be enough. Watch and marvel.

The woman posting the video is a journalist for PoliticoEurope and a former editor of the Moscow Times.
You notice that the second woman was just hustled away and she didn’t have a sign. Plus, the reporter informs us she was starting on a pro-Kremlin speech. Maybe she just looked like a protester?
We can look down our noses at this but again: I call your attention to Portland. Remember this?
