We don’t need a President you can manipulate with a tweet   Hillary Clinton in 2016

As Rachel likes to say, Stick a pin in this one. Right now Tuesday’s race for Governor is a statistical dead heat, with both sides using a lovely late fall weekend to hold a feeding frenzy of door knocking and baby kissing. I’m sure at this point even a few baby squirrels have gotten smooched by mistake.

I actually stuck my pin in this one early this week when it first happened, because I could already see the way it was going to play out. Early in the week, Biden flew into town for a late rally with McAuliffe to frenzy up the troops. In that rally, Biden back slapped Youngkin, noting that while McAuliffe was standing right there on the stage with him, Youngkin steadfastly refused to appear on stage with The Mango Messiah. The second I heard that, my first immediate thought was, Ohhh, you sly old dog!

Youngkin is walking a high wire tightrope, desperately trying to dog whistle Trump’s rural voters, while trying to appear as a moderate, Trump who? candidate in the suburbs, instead choosing to fight the culture wars over education and election security.

Biden’s twisting Trump’s beak from 4 states away could only have one outcome. Sure enough, the very next morning Trump released a statement saying See you soon Virginia! Youngkin’s nightmare scenario had just come true, especially since Trump wanted to hold the rally in the suburbs, where Youngkin was desperately trying to distance himself from all things Trump. I don’t even want to think about the frenzied phone calls that finally got Traitor Tot to back off of his threat.

But you’re not going to give His Lowness the opportunity to spend hours talking about himself in front of a crowd, and then take it away. Instead, He who shall not be named announced a Monday online virtual rally to support Youngkin. Which means that the Democrats will have video ad trucks tooling up and down suburban Virginia streets, blaring it out live. But over the weekend, the Youngkin campaign quietly announced that Youngkin would not take part in the rally.

Look, I’m no professional. I just spent 5 1/2 years paddling around in the cesspool of Trump’s mind. But I learned one thing, if the Spray Tan Buddha grants you 5 minutes, you clear the decks for the day. The only way that Heil Shitler will take Youngkin’s rejection is as an abject base personal betrayal. And he won’t take it well.

It’s not like there’s no precedent. Trump campaigned all in for Big Luther Strange in the primary for Jeff Sessions Senate seat. And branded Strange a pathetic candidate when he lost to Judge Roy Moore. Then he went all in for Moore, a credibly accused child sex offender, and branded him as a deeply flawed individual when he lost to Democrat Doug Jones in the special election. He did the same thing for a Pennsylvania GOP candidate in a special election dubbed gerrymander proof when he lost, as well as Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin in 2019, when he rallied for Bevin the night before the election, and lost. And he did this to people who welcomed and accepted his support! Waddaya think he’s going to do to a turncoat traitor like Youngkin?

From where I’m sitting, there is no way that Trump cancels that virtual rally tomorrow. He’s not going to miss the opportunity to lick his nuts in front of a captive audience for an hour and a half. The only question is the script. Does Trump spend 90 minutes glorifying himself, and then spend 5 minutes extolling Youngkin’s virtues as a candidate? Or does Trump spend 90 minutes spouting his free association bullshit, and then spend 10 minutes telling the faithful that Youngkin is a base deceiver and phony, who couldn’t even find the time to appear on camera with The Cheeto Prophet the day before the election? Considering the fact that Trump cares nothing about Youngkin, the Virginia Governor’s race, or the GOP itself, I think I already know the answer to that one.

Look, the Democrats have long owned the street rep of being able to Snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Right now the Democrats enjoy the advantage in early voting, with more than 1 million votes already cast. But especially under the influence Il Douche, the GOP are notorious election day voters. And polling still shows the GOP with an enthusiasm edge going into voting day. If Trump trashes Youngkin tomorrow out of petty spite and revenge, and GOP turnout falls off of a cliff on Tuesday, I think the Democrats can safely hand that mantle over to Trump and the GOP.

  1. We can only hope he shows then shows his ass as always. How is the #1 serial killer still loose at 720,000 dead & still counting???? Hell. Add up Ted bundy, Gacy, the green river killer, the guy in Atlanta yrs ago, BTK, & ALL THE OTHERS, and u don’t even reach a couple thousand. Still waiting America for the rationalization when he’s DIRECTLY responsible, & STILL DOING IT. Man this is one fucked up country. Dylan said long ago, steal a little they put u in jail. Steal a lot they make u king. Just sub in the word ‘kill’ & it still holds true. Where’s all the fucking outrage????? Hell, ww2 was 400,000 over 4 years. Add up korea, vietnam, Iraq, gulf War, Afghanistan, & he’s killed more in 11/2 years. Lawyers. Where u at? Thought the law was supposed to PROTECT US. I SAY BULLSHIT. Guess it is just another path for the unimaginative to try & get rich. Neverfuckingmind. Guess u have to have served in the military to be angry. Back to sleep everyone.

  2. Watching this race through the lens of a texting volunteer has been interesting. I get the occasional bluster from a GQP rat that’s a match for a guy rooting for his favorite sports team that’s got a losing record. But VERY few speak of Trump, preferring the braindead chant of “Let’s Go, Brandon!” Trump shows up at exactly the wrong moment…like, say, tonight…and Youngkin could well be boned.
