“Cutting Off Their Noses To Spite Their Faces”

There have been multiple times in the past when you’ve seen me start off an article by saying something like This would be hysterical if if weren’t so pathetic. Not this time. This is just fucking hysterical, and it goes to show what happens when you have a maniac leader of a political party, and the party itself, and they’re on a collision course for disaster.

Today there was a scheduling hearing in New York district court. For the first time since the arraignment, Trump CFO Allan Weisselberg and Trump organization lawyers were back in court. These are normally the dullest and most mundane hearings you can imagine. The defense asks for more time to prepare, the prosecution makes outranged moo-moo noises, and the judge schedules another hearing another couple of months down the road. But today Weisselberg’s lawyers threw the whole train off of the rails, and the GOP should be scared shitless.

The attorney started out by complaining that the prosecution had slammed them with literally millions of documents, that they have only had 80 days to look at. This is facially ridiculous, since most of them are Trump organization records that Weisselberg saw every day. But then the lawyer held up a legal size manila envelope and said something like, This includes documents like this, which were just recovered by the prosecution in the basement of a co-conspirator. Really? Do Tell.  And then the lawyer went on to say, It is my understanding that there are more indictments forthcoming Your Honor, so what’s the rush?? The Judge scheduled another hearing for early next year, with an anticipated trial date of August or September of 2022.

This is bad news for Weisselberg, the Trump organization, and Trump himself. The charges that were filed were what I like to call placekeeper charges. They are used to get the defendants into the legal system, stopping the statute of limitations, while the investigation continues. And if more juicy revelations come out of the investigation, then the prosecutor just goes back to the grand jury and gets superseding indictments to pile on. And that’s what the defense is looking at right now.

But it’s even worse news for the GOP heading into the midterm elections. The GOP has married itself tooth and nail, hook, line, and sinker to Trump, and Trump is hell bent for leather on inserting himself and his ideology into the 2022 midterms as a sign of devotion to him. And with today’s ruling in a New York city court, they are providing Democrats with a neutron bomb to set off.

When has the judge set for a trial date? August or September of 2022. And what is that? The last 2-3 months of the 2022 midterm election cycle. The GOP, especially the GOP House under Kreepy Kevin McCarthy can’t separate themselves from Trump. The Democrats are going to be doing everything in their power to tie every GOP incumbent and challenger to Trump, not a difficult task,

Once the trial starts, there will be a daily cavalcade of negative news regarding the Cheeto Prophet, and his company inundating the airwaves. And that just provides more and more ammo for the Democrats to use against Republicans on the campaign trail. Talk about an eternal cycle. And God forbid a verdict should come down sometime in October.

This is what a total meltdown looks like Trump, his candy ass organization, and Weisselberg are out for number one and nobody else. After all, it’s their personal asses in the sling. And meanwhile, toxic sludge for the GOP is going to be cascading out all over the media on a daily network. And the GOP is going to have to deal with it all on the fly. God! I love it when they eat their young!
