There is a market for Donald Trump for the same reason that there is a market for his favorite junk food, McDonald’s. Both appeal to the lowest common denominator. And both will kill you if you keep up a steady diet of them. But the Cult of Trump just doesn’t get that, and probably won’t until it has the political equivalent of hardening of the arteries or stroke. And the problem with that is that there’s only one body politic and we’re all in it. The MAGA cells get numerous enough and toxic enough, we all feel the effect.
You are literally looking at the Sayings Of Chairman Trump. Go ahead and pinch yourself, we all see it, too.

Just the tweets. Trump tweets are an art form now, a kind of haiku. A haiku is a three line poem and a tweet is 280 characters, so the analogy is pretty spot on, actually.
You can buy your copy of the MAGA bible along with other treasures from Trump’s PAC. Here’s a sampling.

Somehow, a guy who can’t even ride or bicycle or drive a car became the leader of a violent motorcycle gang. pic.twitter.com/PigWKWTJsS

I know that projection is a powerful psychological mechanism, but literally, Trump’s a macho macho man and he can’t drive a car? That I had heard, but it was news to me that he never learned how to ride a bike.
‘Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear… Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.’ – Psalm 115:4-8 pic.twitter.com/95yWrC6Kp5

This is getting biblical. This absolutely is. Or, maybe it’s just a colossal troll. Because this next one certainly is.

Read this article from the Florida Phoenix about how Ron DeSantis vetoed a civics education bill. He not only doesn’t want critical race theory taught, he doesn’t want basic civics taught.
The bill would have established the Citizen Scholar Program, intended to combine “academic instruction with the implementation of concepts learned into the local community… to improve civic literacy and expand educational experiences for students.” High school students who completed the program could have received up to six undergraduate credit hours.
The program would have been created within the University of South Florida and headquartered at the St. Petersburg campus. That is because of the campus’s “commitment to enhancing civic literacy and community engagement in the next generation of leaders,” the bill language states.
The bill then would have had USF St. Petersburg contract with the nonprofit YMCA to “provide students participating in the YMCA Youth and Government program the opportunity to be designated Citizen Scholar and earn undergraduate credit.”
Also, high school students would have been required to participate in a civics activity, such as taking up an unpaid government internship, or learning about the U.S. citizenship naturalization process and attending a naturalization oath ceremony. Then the student would have been required to write a research paper reflecting on their experience.
Keep ’em ignorant. Keep ’em getting their information from Fox News. Suppress the vote. Gerrymander. Keep the clueless riled up at all times and they’ll vote Republican. Because here’s the best idea of all: Make America Florida.

The line of demarcation in this country is education and information. That is what it boils down to. Half the country is illiterate and glued to the boob tube and You Tube and Facebook. That’s where they get their impressions of reality. The other half is capable of critical thinking and is staying informed. They take politics seriously. If this isn’t the recipe for a fascist state, I don’t know what is.
Maybe the founding fathers did anticipate this. You recall Ben Franklin being asked what kind of a country this was and replying, “A republic — if you can keep it.” Maybe they did know how fragile the democratic experiment was.

These are effing Americans. WTH?! We’re the enemy. Too many of them would love to kill us.
As was said about Hitler’s Germany: 1/3rd of the population would kill the next 1/3rd while the final 1/3rd watched.
The Magats believe in white supremacy, but if you just watch and listen to them you have to admit they “shatter the myth of white supremacy once and for all,” (as Charlie Rangel said of “W” after Hurricane Katrina).
