There was a time not so long ago when a freshman senator would never have shown disrespect for a governmental procedure as serious as impeachment, let alone open contempt. But that day and age is gone and in February, 2021, we have Josh Hawley, who is openly disregarding the impeachment trial in the senate and making a spectacle of himself. It is not going over well, but apparently Hawley believes that this kind of rancorous display will endear him to Republican voters.
Josh Hawley is un-American traitorous jackass undeserving of the position and power he holds. https://t.co/FyXKslkRky

Breaking via MSNBC: Republican Josh Hawley is ignoring the trial reading stuff that has nothing to do with the impeachment… even sitting with his legs up on the seat in front of him.
If this gets you kicked out of Biology class, why doesn't it get him kicked out of the Senate?

Missouri? You should be mortified to have the arrogant and unpatriotic #JoshHawley representing you in the US Senate. Feet up, upper gallery, going through paperwork during Impeachment trial. He thinks he is above the law. Demagogue in training.

Josh Hawley is making a spectacle of himself deliberately. Why would he disrespect those who died on Jan 6 and after? Why?

It should be forever January 6th in how we view Josh Hawley, who has shown zero remorse or regret for instigating an effort to overthrow the US government. https://t.co/qD8WbXQ8mW

Sen. Josh Hawley insisted to me he was paying attention when sitting in the upstairs gallery and while reading a stack of documents from his manilla folder. He said he was reading legal briefs in the case. He's the lone senator sitting in the upstairs gallery.

Rand Paul was reportedly doodling yesterday and apparently most of the GOP senators are just going through the motions, like disinterested children showing up in class only because they have to. Donald Trump may be a cancer, but the Republican party is a thoroughly diseased body, or they wouldn’t have so easily hosted him nor continue to defend him as they have.
Yeah, good things these asshats are ‘impartial’. Right.
In all fairness, and I despise Rand Paul, I tend ed to doodle and crochet during grad school classest. Still.got As. Some of use our brains better when hands are occupied. But since Rand doesn’t have much of a brain to start with, that probably doesn’t apply…
When I.read about Hawley’s feet up.on the drsk, I wanted the Teutonic Titwillow, Lily Von Schtupp to.show up.and ask.him.if he always wanted to.be a performer, then telling him These last 4 years were like a Mel Brooks script directed by John Carpenter and starring third rate actors
In college I only did that in classes that were thoroughly boring. In HS, I had one teacher who caught me doodling, and had me stop (world history, and he was really good).
Like I said earlier, they know he won’t be convicted so why bother pretending to give a crap.
The vote will be party-line (50-50) to convict and Kami will be the tie breaker for the vote to prohibit him running for public office, leaving it to the Democrats to clean up the mess that the GOP made.
leaving it to the Democrats to clean up the mess that the GOP made – as usual.
Bottom line is if Stump is guilty, Hawley, Cruz, Graham, Paul and all the others who spoke at the rallies prior to the insurrection are guilty too. All the rest of the GOP who voted not to ratify the election are complicit. They know it. They’re going to fight it tooth and nail even if it means the end of Democracy.
Hell yeah. They are guilty. They promoted the big lie and helped incite the insurrection.
That is the crux of the matter. Their vote in the first impeachment was to protect Trump. This time it is to protect themselves. They refused to call witness the first time. This time they themselves and all of us were witnesses.
It’s disgusting and disgraceful for a member of congress to opening ignore an impeachment trial. Though they were even showing they’re siding with trump makes me sick. being called the Republican Party of Trump makes me want to throw up. They should all be voted out in their next election.
OJO! Today Ohio’s very own answer to Josh Hawley, Josh “The Empty Suit” Mandel, announced that he’s running for Rob Portman’s soon-to-be-vacant seat in order to go to D.C. to serve “Trump’s agenda” — not the people of Ohio. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because he ran against Sherrod Brown in 2012 and was preparing to do so again in 2018 when he was derailed by a mysterious, yet-to-be-revealed situation. He said his wife was sick but people who know the family said she wasn’t sick enough for a ruthlessly ambitious guy like Mandel to drop out and anyway, they’re divorced now and the proceedings have been sealed. Hmmmm.
Remind me: Wasn’t Hawley most recently the ATTORNEY GENERAL of Missouri before getting his Senate seat? (A quick Google search indicates the answer to be “Yes.”)
Sitting with your feet up like that is for home or your private office. Otherwise it marks you as an barely-civilized boor.
