Back at the White House, the coffee pots and TV sets took the brunt of a Trumpian toddler tantrum. Who knows what it is at Mar-a-Lago? Empty Diet Coke cans flying through the air like rice at a wedding? Maybe? In all events, word is that “the former president” as his lawyer Bruce Castor calls him, was not happy with Castor’s performance.

This is one of the few times we see eye to eye with Trump. Castor’s performance was indeed scream worthy, because it was rambling and incomprehensible. Trump probably objected to it because Castor didn’t stand up there and chant “Stop the Steal” — although Schoen came close. People were waiting for Schoen to do it.
But scream worthy, rambling and incomprehensible or not, only one, count ’em one, Republican senator was swayed to go down on the right side of history and that was Bill Cassidy of Louisiana. He now joins Sasse, Toomey, Romney, Murskowski, and Collins. Apparently, for the rest of the GOP Senate, Trump could set puppies on fire on camera and they’d still support him. This is who they are.
Not overlooking the fact that they disobeyed him by referring on a lot of occasions to the ‘former president’
Jim Acosta can’t say it often enough. I caught a clip of him talking with Jake Tapper and he used the phrase four times in less than two minutes.
And admitting that Biden is the real president.
But then, Trmp admitted in one of the docs his lawyers sent to the Senate that Pence told hiim what he wanted was unconstitutional.
Of course trump was throwing a tantrump! His “lawyers” could not turn the trial into a “stop the steal” rally for him! The Orange Monster cannot accept that he lost the election, that he is the biggest loser in the history of the world! The Orange Monster’s mental aberations make it impossible for him to accept the truth! As he himself said, he will never accept that he could possibly lose, and that he would never concede. Although from some things he did and said, it is possible he may realize on some level that he lost and that Joe Biden is now President, he would never admit it even to himself. The Orange Monster, the Q-NUT MTG, and the whole GQP are the best argument we could possibly have for mandatory psych evals by bipartisan panels of mental professionals before anyone is allowed to run for ANY office or be considered for ANY position in any federal, state, or local government agency or entity!

What might happen if when Trump was having one his tantrums; someone around him yelled at him and said, “Shut the hell up and sit down!”? What do you think Trump would say or do? If trump replied, “You’re fired!” and that person responded, “I’m not going anywhere. Just be quiet and sit yourself down. Now!” Do think Trump would hit that person, yell back at him/her, or sit down and shut up because he was shocked by the response?
The Trump’s lawyers sucked, but it is really the disgusting filth that makes up the GOP that suck. It wasn’t the Trump Insurection, it was the Repubican Insurection and attempted coup. 44 of the Q Senators hiding behind the bs concerning the constitution.
On the other hand, Trump’s lawyers do not have much to work with. The whole country was a witness to both the four-year cultivation of his cult and the insurrection attempt, the fruit of that cultivation.
He could do far worse than setting puppies or kittens on fire and still have GOP Senators vote to acquit him. Hell, he could commandeer some pizza joint with a basement and hold bizzare sex rituals with infants, eat their faces off and drink their blood (sound familiar any of you Q assholes lurking here) and his base would STILL support him and GOP Senators would vote to acquit him. Oh, maybe ten or so would break ranks but not nearly enough to convict him. Such is the new GOP, the cult of Trump. They either gulp down the Kool Aid or pretend to do so while lacking the courage to run away.
Well, Trump DID boast he could kill someone in Times Square and get away with it.
Like it matters. They will never have enough votes to convict. Just like last time.
Oh well, democracy was nice while it lasted.
Hopefully Trump will primary whichever GOP clown runs in 2024.
Then they may regret their vote.
