It says a lot when you don’t want to undergo a sanity test. As a matter of fact, once you’ve said that, what more is there to say? Ask Lin Wood. He’s decided that it’s a violation of his constitutional rights to have his mind examined, to see if it is sound enough for him to continue to practice law in the State of Georgia.

The Georgia bar’s handbook stipulates that, upon finding “that an attorney may be impaired or incapacitated to practice law due to mental incapacity or substance abuse,” the bar may “make a confidential referral of the matter to the Lawyer Assistance Program for the purposes of confrontation and referral of the attorney to treatment centers and peer support groups.”

The bar also says that, of the lawyers under its jurisdiction, “want of a sound mind, senility, habitual intoxication or drug addiction, to the extent of impairing competency as an attorney … shall constitute grounds for removing the attorney from the practice of law.”

We know that everything Trump touches dies, but some people become radioactive before they pass on into obscurity and non stop travail, and it looks like Lin Wood is one of those.

Wood, who gained notoriety in recent months for repeatedly alleging that the 2020 election was rigged—and who at one point infamously called for the execution of then-Vice President Mike Pence—told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the Georgia State Bar’s order would “violate [his] First Amendment right to free speech.”

“And if they do that and this harms me, then I will strongly consider suing them, and it will be a significant lawsuit,” he added.

I guess nobody told Wood that advocating execution of the sitting vice president by a crazed mob tends to draw attention to oneself, and in a situation where your former law partners have already testified to your physical and emotional abuse, not to mention your messianic complex, that is going to get the state bar involved.

I hope the fifteen minutes of fame were worth the notoriety and disgrace that’s coming.

    • Wood is out there. He’s been gone for quite a while, just ask his law partners. I’m waiting to see not only what happens with this, but with Sidney Powell in Texas.

  1. Hard to say who is the loosest nut on the wheel when it comes to Wood and Powell. Neither one seems to be well grounded in reality, no matter how you define it.

  2. If the Georgia State Bar does what it can and SHOULD do, the bad news is that Wood will still have first amendment rights. The good news (such as it is) is that he won’t be able to use them in court. Ok, so he might fight some lawyer who would argue his cases he wants to fight on Trump’s behalf but at this point I doubt even Sydney Powell would want to represent him. She does after all have plenty of her own problems to deal with these days!

  3. Maybe Mr Wood should reacquaint himself with the law and how he’s going to bring a lawsuit against an organization that authorizes his ability to practice law within the state.

Wood AGREED to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Georgia Bar Association when he decided he wanted to practice law. If he no longer wants to abide by those rules and regulations, then he’s perfectly free to find some other profession better suited to his abilities–though I’m not sure what that might be.

  4. I often wonder what goes through the mind of some Republican lawyers. They seem to believe that they are above the law. It reminds me of an old joke about insects and windshields and the last thing that goes through their minds. Of course, I am assuming that they still have minds that function. Sometimes I make bad assumptions.

  5. So quick to pass judgement. There are millions of people that believe just as Lin Wood does… this character assignation is why they don’t all step forward. Frightening to say the least.
