If you wondered why you didn’t hear from Mitt Romney right away about voting on Justice Ginsburg’s replacement, it’s because he was busy consulting his crystal ball and tea leaves. That venture concluded Tuesday morning at which time he said, “My liberal friends have over many decades gotten used to the idea of a liberal court and that’s not written in the stars.” And then he went on to declare that the “nation is center-right” which is his most clueless comment since he said 47% of the nation was on welfare. Here’s that entire quote, if you’ve forgotten its sheer idiocy.
“There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what … who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. … These are people who pay no income tax. … and so my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives,” Romney said.
Just re-reading it, I reel. It was chosen as the year’s best quote, by the way. To my way of thinking, it’s in competition for the best quote of the millennium, but fortunately I won’t be around to see if it wins that one. Once again, I marvel that he thinks Democrats pay no income tax — or the inverse, that people who pay no income tax are Democrats per se. Does he have even a slight grasp of who the MAGAts are, socio-economically speaking?
And he has decided, apparently, that the complexion of the nation has changed in eight short years, since when he ran for president, from welfare state to center-right? The nation isn’t center-right! Democrats have won the last three popular votes, and other than 2004, have won every single one since 1992. So the welfare queens, who voted for libs, all became conservatives, and the popular vote happened how? Oh my God, I had forgotten how stupid the man was. Like everyone else, I was thinking that Mittens had turned over a new paw, when he voted to remove Trump and then appeared in a Black Lives Matter parade.
But he’s not woke! No way! He’s still Mittens and coming up with inane conclusions derived by incorrect facts and asinine reasoning. Here’s the latest.

The fault, dear Mittens, lies not in our stars, but in ourselves.

When Susan Collins was in, it was a done deal. I am ready to vote. Also, when mitt didn’t join in to say no, immediately, I knew they had the votes. This is another awful decision, like ramming through kavanaugh.
And a costly mistake. All this has done is add fuel to the argument that we need to do some court packing, make states of the two most victimized territories in US control and, oh, dump as many GOP Senators as possible into the garbage heap. As Carroll suggested last night, that last is likely why they’re doing this. They expect to lose in a couple of months anyway.
We will need to expand the Supreme Court. Justice Ginsburg did not want to see that change, but I think she would agree on these facts that that is the most advisable thing to do. The Republicans only care about the exercise of power, no matter how naked. We have to operate the same way. And we do need to make states out of the two territories. Right now we are experiencing the tyranny of the minority. A state like Wyoming has two senators, same as California, and it’s got a population the size of Glendale, Pasadena and Burbank and that’s it. They don’t deserve two senators. We need to get power into the hands of the majority of people, not a rural minority, which is how it stands now.
The antidote is for the MAJORITY to rise up & VOTE every repulsican out of power, then be willing to do whatever is necessary to restore our democracy.
What happened to Murfster’s quorum idea?
Oh and you were doing so well, Willard. Now you’ve condemned yourself to be tied to Trump and the blowback of such well beyond this year. Enjoy irrelevance!
Mitt demonstrates (again) that he’s spineless.
I can handle his spinelessness, it’s his cluelessness that throws me for a loop.
I don’t think we are looking for a ‘liberal supreme court”, I think we would like a balanced one.
I do not want a balanced court. I want a court full of impartial, unbiased judges. I am flabbergasted that Americans even accept the idea of so-called balance. Justice is supposed to be blind and apolitical. Judgers are supposed to make their rulings on the merits of the case and nothing else.
If I hadn’t transferred down to NC, and instead still lived (and worked) up where I used to I’d drive over to DC and DARE that clueless asshole to come over to the eastern panhandle of WV and spend a day toodling around with me! I’d have a list of questions he could pose to people about various govt. benefits they utilize such as the Earned Income Tax Credit for example that would penetrate even his CLOSED mind meant that those people/families “paid no income tax” and how fearful they were those various programs are on the chopping block – and how it was all Obama’s fault for “cutting Medicaid.” And every goddamned house we’d go to would right now have a Trump sign in the yard!
That’s right folks. I lived there for ten years in small town “real” America and it’s chock full of people who wouldn’t vote for a Democrat for President, and if they voted for Manchin (Senator) only do so because they think he’s a GOP plant helping sabotage “libruls” agenda if Satan himself was heading up the GOP ticket!
You are SO right about that 47% he’s obsessed with that he thinks cost him the Presidency. It doesn’t matter what state they are in. If they are WHITE in those red, small town/rural bastions of GOP “real” America they are by a large margin REPUBLICAN voters. They suck up government money and services like a vacuum cleaner and howl at the thought of them being cut but they REFUSE to accept it’s the GOP that’s been fighting for decades to cut those things and Democrats who’ve been fighting not just to keep but expand them. I’ve had the chance to because of where I’ve lived develop a pretty good familiarity with southern Illinois, western Kentucky, southeast Missouri, eastern and sort of central WV, central and western MD and south central PA. Oh, and south central Virginia as well as out in a good chunk of the Shenandoah Valley. All of which have been GOP strongholds for a very long time.
If Mittens had even the beginning of a clue he’d know his freaking 47% is made up of a shitload of conservative voters. Hard core conservative voters. Those same ones he and his cronies joke about among themselves for being suckered by culture war bullshit into voting against their economic interests and moving from the middle class towards or into poverty – or deeper into poverty as the money they once had and earned flows to people like HIM. But he DOES have a clue. He’s always known the truth. He just doesn’t care. He can take his faith and shove it up his ass because his true “god” is the almighty dollar. Making his fortune as a corporate raider he’s destroyed countless worker’s and family’s lives and he doesn’t care.
Like others, I thought his attempt at splitting the baby during the impeachment vote by casting a vote to convict on only one article (knowing Trump would survive anyway) he was trying to set himself up as the person who could rebuild his Party after Trump. To be a “credible broker” with the public at-large in trying to whitewash the Trump years out of the public’s mind the way the GOP was somewhat able to do with Bush 43. That, if he couldn’t be President himself he’d be regarded by history as the “savior of the Party.” Well, he can kiss that dream goodbye! He has proven he is weak, and can be cowed into submission and that vote on the impeachment will be an anchor around his neck with conservatives forever because he’s backed off from going all-in on being the elder statesman. And everyone else will as I said know how craven he truly is.
We didn’t hear from Romney because his magic underwear was in a twist
If we don’t pack the courts, our and future generations to come are doomed to GOP fascism
For awhile I thought Romney was the only Republican male with remaining testicular fortitude, but now I see that the faint bulge in his pants at the Acquittal Abomination was just another ping pong ball McConnell had stuffed down his pants. More GOP plastic and empty air – no flesh and blood humanity. Totally emasculated and shaming himself in the eyes of America, betraying his own God. Traitor.
Mitt is so stupid the GOP doesn’t even want him. However, the outspoken Dem liberals need to stop drinking the sauce too. I’m a lifelong 3rd party voter and will stay that way, this is embarrassing as a nation! Deep state is real and in both parties people, this is not just a Don thing!
Guess mitt missed all those warnings & rebukes Jesus gave about hyprocrisy. Amazing you can believe in a religion started by golden plates, somehow lost, but can’t seem to grasp Jesus’s warnings about embracing evil. Money & power. Baubles of the Devil mitt. And I don’t need any golden plates, or angelic visitation to see clearly that ,”Jesus don’t like killing no matter what’s the reasons for”. Believe in a final judgement by the Righteous & all knowing God do ya mitt? Uh oh.
When Susan Collins was in, it was a done deal. I am ready to vote. Also, when mitt didn’t join in to say no, immediately, I knew they had the votes. This is another awful decision, like ramming through kavanaugh. jobztip.com
