I wonder when Donald Trump’s aides are going to tell him the awful truth, that the year is not 1984 and moreover, even if it was, he’s not Ronald Reagan. The man appears to be in a complete time warp, not knowing that the country has changed in the past 40 years, let alone acknowledging the seismic developments of the past four months. Here’s his latest racist salvo from early Wednesday morning.
The “suburban housewife” will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, in a bigger form, with Corey Booker in charge! @foxandfriends @MariaBartiromo

This statement of Trump’s flies in the face of all the available evidence. Maybe the campaign just doesn’t show it to him? Newsweek:
While it’s unclear exactly how women will vote in November, a recent poll conducted by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist showed that 66 percent of suburban women disapproved of the job Trump is doing, with 58 percent saying they “strongly disapproved.”
On Friday, The Washington Post reported that an average of national polls since late June shows that women voters overwhelmingly favor Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden over Trump–by a margin of 23 percentage points.
Democrats are also hopeful about Biden chances due to the results of the 2018 midterms, when exit polls by CNN showed that women backed Democratic candidates over Republicans by a margin of nearly 20 percent. That represented the largest gap in three decades, according to Politico.
“There was a gender gap when it came to [2016 Democratic presidential candidate] Hillary Clinton, but now there is a gender chasm,” GOP strategist Sarah Longwell told The Post.
And make no mistake, the nomination of Kamala Harris, less than 24 hours old, shook up Trump world as well. Astonishingly, Trump believes, according to this Vanity Fair article that Harris “will scare the shit out of suburban women.” Can he be serious? She polls very high with college-educated suburbanites and blacks.
Trump advisers are split over Biden’s decision to nominate Harris, the first Black and South Asian woman on a major party ticket. Some see the California senator as a Barack Obama–level star and skilled debater who will appeal to a changing America. “The demographics favor the Democrats. Trump still thinks this is Ronald Reagan’s America, and it’s not,” said the Republican source. “The other problem is the campaign risks a backlash in the #MeToo age if they attack her too personally.”
Other Trumpworld insiders are thrilled at the opportunity to define Harris as a radical leftist, a portrayal echoed Tuesday night on Fox News. “She’s going to help with the base, and that’s where it ends,” a Trump adviser predicted. “She’ll scare the shit out of suburban women. How great is this?” Trump has taken to stoking fears that a Biden victory will fuel unrest in “Democrat-run cities,” a barely disguised racist appeal that he picked up again on Wednesday morning following the Harris announcement. “The ‘suburban housewife’ will be voting for me,” he tweeted. The adviser added that Biden would soon regret choosing a high-wattage running mate. “This is not Mike Pence to Donald Trump or Joe Biden to Obama. Kamala is going to be the candidate. She’ll be constantly overshadowing him. In three to four weeks, Biden is going to realize he made a dumb move.” ]…]
One reason for Trump’s optimism may be that he’s living in a right-wing-media bubble where Biden is presented as a cartoon of a doddering old man controlled by antifa, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—and now Harris. (“Slow Joe” and “Phony Kamala” is how the campaign is already framing the pair.) “Trump keeps asking people, when are voters going to realize Biden is mentally out to lunch?” a Republican briefed on the conversations told me. “But he’s only seeing clips of Biden screwing up.”
Let’s take out Occam’s Razor and sharpen it a little bit, shall we? In 2016, Hillary was hated. She was the target of a right-wing media disinformation campaign for over 20 years and they did their job well. And not to detract from her competence, which is stellar, she didn’t have the “common touch” or likeability factor, call it what you will. She herself has said she lacks the oratorial power of Barack Obama or husband Bill.
Joe Biden is not Hillary. Plus, some percentage of the people who voted for Trump in 2016 wanted to see if he could shake things up like he promised. He promised the moon, people wanted to see if he could deliver. He has not. He has not only not delivered his vaunted vanity project, The Wall, he has failed to deliver all the winning that he assured his cult and everybody else that they would get sick of. Instead, he has delivered a dystopian hellscape of a sick America, America as banana republic, with 25% of the coronavirus cases and only 4% of the population. Additionally, the economic shockwaves keep coming, and Trump and his sycophants in the GOP are not doing an adequate job of forestalling generational ruin at this point.
Trump was able to muddle through with his band of enablers reasonably well until the tough got going and then he showed that he was made of straw and had absolutely no idea what was going on, and no clue as to how to govern. How he believes that somehow none of this matters, and that his racist base will carry the election is truly a marvel. I guess we’re going to find out who we really are in 2020 because it’s not just a marketing slogan, it’s fact: this election is about America or Trump.

Amen, sister, amen!
I can’t believe that he thinks that the electorate is as racist as he is. Do the George Floyd protests not register on him at all? The moms in Portland with the sunflowers and peace signs? Nothing sinks in?
If it isn’t on Fox or OANN, it isn’t real to him.
America or Trump.
Truth or lies.
It is that basic, isn’t it?
Has he met any “suburban women”, like, ever?
Only if they (or their husbands) have 7-figure incomes or trust funds.
Then again, those aren’t really “suburban women,” are they?
Well he maybe a little confused. In his fantasy world suburban women like it was said from the eighties were predominantly white middle class women. Nowadays that has changed. And since he only gets Fox News and that other hillbilly station he doesn’t know that the demographics have changed. He just lucked out because they didn’t like Hillary because of Bill not staying in his own yard. I mean if the presidents husband can fool around why would theirs want to stay home.
Trump lies, people die. Sick of winning, or just plain sick? Vote like you are hitting Omaha beach. Remember there are no rules in a knife fight.
The only thing orangebob shitpants knows about women is where to grab them. Oh, wait. He & his party buddy Epstein didn’t mess with adults, only children. Nevermind.
Trump translator: “suburban women” = “white evangelical women.” I’m a woman who lives in the suburbs; I detest Trump and all his lackeys. So do my friends and colleagues who also happen to be suburban women.
June, I’m with you! I’ve lived in suburbs all my life and I saw tRump for the sheister he was long before he descended the golden escalator and announced his intentions of taking our country down his rabbit hole to hell. Most of my family hate this man with a white hot passion. A couple boted for him but now see the error of their ways. We want him GONE as in hauled off to prison where he belongs.
