This certainly comes as no shock. As a matter of fact, it’s a refreshing surprise. Common sense dictates that somebody shouldn’t be able to pardon an accomplice, or co-conspirator and apparently that notion can be framed legally as well. Hallelujah.

I cannot overstate how happy I am to see this take place. Roger Stone telegraphed to the world last week that he hadn’t ratted on Trump, and then on Friday night his sentence was commuted. Stone leap frogged over thousands of applicants for pardon and commutation. And then we found out that according to DOJ guidelines, he wasn’t even technically eligible for a commutation of sentence, because he hadn’t even begun serving time.
The commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence is in many ways the most embarrassingly self-serving thing that Donald Trump has done so far — and that’s saying a mouthful. This is heartening that people are standing up and doing something about it. Hear hear.
I hope the commutation is denied and he’s off to do his time.

The argument will be that Trump-O was not charged with any crime and thus cannot be considered a “co-conspirator”.
You’re dealing with a Catch-22 then. Stone kept his mouth shut in the hopes that Trump would pardon him BUT if Trump had listened to HIS Attorney General and not pardoned Stone, then there’s every likelihood that Stone WOULD have spilled EVERYTHING which would certainly have turned Trump into a “co-conspirator.” I have little doubt that that bit of conjecture will be brought up.
Trump had NO legitimate reason to pardon Stone *IF* Stone wasn’t holding something over on Trump. Presidents are NOT supposed to be pardoning “friends” (at least, not while they still have time in office; it’s one thing to issue a pardon during the “lame duck” period as a “last hurrah” but when you’ve still got at least four full months in office, it definitely looks hinky).

And I see what happened. Another think tank type group also said WTF. Hopefully there will be justice served. I think Democrats should have jumped on this but I see some of the problems. I have them myself. I would be rich if it wasn’t for procrastination. But the way I see it. While I was at it I seen and did a lot of things I would have missed had I been more diligent in my professional life. Thanks for this one. Has been riding me crazy since I just momentarily saw a headline and no body to it. Kinda a play on words there. My fantasies run amuck when Donald is involved.
