#MoscowMitch Says STOP Calling Him #MoscowMitch!

#MoscowMictch McConnell suddenly believes it matters deeply when someone is unfair to someone else, or at least when he believes the country is being unfair to him. From a report in the Hill, #MoscowMitch was back on the floor of the Senate, insisting that people stop being so mean, and act “fairly.”

“It’s modern-day McCarthyism,” said the man who threatened to call out President Obama as “political” when Obama wanted to issue a dual press release about Russian attempts to ratfck the 2016 presidential election.

“You know, I can laugh about things like the ‘Grim Reaper,’ but calling me Moscow Mitch is over the top,” said the man who blamed president Obama for failing to stop the Russians from assisting the Trump campaign, members of whom met with the Trump campaign over 100 times according to the Mueller report.

“This is what we’re up against with the hard left today in America,” said the man who blocked legislation aimed at protecting American elections by funding efforts to monitor Russia as well as requiring paper ballots. And, we might note, said the man who sees anyone to the left of him as the “hard left.”

“They are lying when they suggest that either party is against defending our democracy,” said the man who allowed a vote, supported by Republicans, to remove sanctions against a Russian oligarch who then penned a deal to build an aluminum plant in McConnell’s home state.

The Democrats would “say anything and do anything.” said the man who has blocked the confirmation of a needed fourth commissioner to the FEC, leaving the FEC unable to enforce election law violations.

“Unbelievable for a Cold Warrior like me who spent a career standing up to the Russians to be given a moniker like that.” says the man who apparently doesn’t know that the Cold War ended almost twenty years ago, and has since done his best to ensure that the Trump-Russian agenda is near the only thing passed through the Senate.

He is literally whining, about the unfairness of it all, which sounds pretty snowflaky to me. It also sounds like someone quite worried that the moniker might stick, and thus put him at risk of going down with Trump next year. Should the entire lid be blown open with regard to Russian funds spread throughout the Republican party, people might immediately recall the #MoscowMitch label, and treat our happy warrior so unfairly in holding him accountable.

Peace, y’all

    • Which is a remarkable lapse for him when you think about it. Even he should know that’s an open invite your opponents to keep hitting you with it.

    • Oh, stop being so polite, Wolf. Really go on a tear with it: f him, f him, f him to (nonliving), f him to hell and beyond. He deserves no less, yes?

  1. He’s happy to confirm judges who are right-wing, right up until 1/20/2021, but he wouldn’t allow votes on moderate judges in the entire last year of Obama’s administration. Two-faced – and one is a skull.

  2. As much as I hate this movie, this line from Pulp Fiction sums up my reaction to Mitch’s whining: “Oh, I’m sorry, did I break your concentration?” McConnell knows better…never, EVER admit a weakness if you don’t want it used against you. He might as well have just installed a flashing neon sign on the weak spot he desperately wishes we’d all stop hitting. His opponent next year will give him no such courtesy.

  3. Hey MMitch, I understand you made a deal with the Russian money people and NOW have a new aluminum plant coming right into your own State, is that correct? Oh, NO deal? Will the Russians be surprised to hear THAT? I think we should ask them in front of our House committees if they were told by you that they had a gravy deal because you could fix it?

  4. “says the man who apparently doesn’t know that the Cold War ended almost twenty years ago.”
Just a note, Jason. The Cold War ended almost THIRTY years ago. It’s 2019 and the Berlin Wall’s collapse began in November 1989 (when the East German government allowed its citizens to freely cross into West Berlin or any other part of West Germany). And the Soviet Union officially dissolved on Dec 26, 1991.
So, we’re a bit closer to the 30 year mark of the end of the Cold War than we are to 20.

  5. Here’s the “Cold Warrior” MoscowMitch…

In March 1967, shortly before the expiration of his educational draft deferment upon graduation from law school, McConnell enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve as a private at Louisville, Kentucky. This was a coveted position because the Reserve units were mostly kept out of combat during the Vietnam War. His first day of training at Fort Knox was July 9, 1967, two days after taking the bar exam, and his last day was August 15, 1967. Shortly after his arrival, he was diagnosed with optic neuritis and was deemed medically unfit for military service. After five weeks at Fort Knox, he was honorably discharged. His brief time in service has repeatedly been put at issue by his political opponents during his electoral campaigns. Although McConnell has allowed reporters to examine parts of his military record and take notes, he has refused to allow copies to be made or to disclose his entire record, despite calls by his opponents to do so. His time in service has also been the subject of criticism because his discharge was accelerated after his father placed a call to Senator John Sherman Cooper, who then sent a wire to the commanding general at Fort Knox on August 10, advising that “Mitchell [is] anxious to clear post in order to enroll in NYU”. He was allowed to leave post just five days later, though McConnell maintains that no one helped him with his enlistment into or discharge from the reserves. According to McConnell, he struggled through the exercises at basic training and was sent to a doctor for a physical examination, which revealed McConnell’s optic neuritis. McConnell did not attend NYU.
