Donald Trump has been rage tweeting at Fox News since the polls closed and early returns began to dribble in. Fox’s crime? Why reporting the returns of course. The returns have not been as favorable as Trump would like and so it makes sense that there’s this missive from the White House where Trump denies all responsibility.

Yes, the Prophet Mike Johnson did say that the polls were all wrong and he would return to lead the House but that’s not what the polls are indicating at this time.
All eyes are glued to the Senate races, which show good early leads but that’s to be expected. Republicans always do well on Election Day and that trend is expected. But on the few races that we have won, so far so good. Jon Ossoff retained his seat, Roy Cooper flipped the seat he won, Thom Tillis’s old seat. North Carolina looking a lovely shade of purple right now.
So much for the countdown clock I said would start at midnight or perhaps a bit earlier if the election results turned out like they are turning out.
There would I said be multiple reactions from Trump. (Some spoken/tweeted and some actions too) but I said one thing was certain – that he would blame others and even directly claim he wasn’t on the ballot! Prophecy fulfilled and frankly sooner than I expected.
Lawrence O’Donnel made an interesting observation earlier. Leave it to him to point out something most of us miss. He said Republicans do badly when Trump is actually in office. I thought about it and sure enough he’s right. Democrats won big in the 2018 midterms. And we won the Presidency and both chambers of Congress when Biden beat him in 2020. Now, back in office again he’s on pace to get his and the GOP’s ass kicked even worse than in 2018.
Basically what O’Donnell pointed out is that if Trump somehow survives (and with his deteriorating physical and mental state that’s a big question) the GOP will get its ass kicked again in 2028.
