Trump has to be blowing a gasket. His lust for a Nobel Peace Prize is palatable but once again the award has gone to someone who actually deserves it. That would drive Trump crazy in any year. This year however he not only lost (again), but to a woman (again) and for the second year in a row. What has to REALLY be driving Trump batsh!t insane this morning is that he lost to a Woman of Color! Yes, this year’s recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize is Navi Pillay from South Africa who has been a judge on several International Criminal Courts.
Even infamous (former) Doctor Ronny “Dr. Pill Popper” Jackson doesn’t have enough happy pills to calm Trump down this morning. Given what I’ve noted already about Judge Pillay and how Trump has been on a tear lately about the ICC this ole jarhead would rather wade through 800 yards of waist high surf into murderous Japanese fire on Tarawa like my forbearers did in WWII than walk into a room with Trump today. And let’s be clear about something. THIS year’s Nobel Peace Prize recipient won’t make a dumbass pilgrimage to DC (or Mar A Lago) to give her Nobel Prize to Trump! In this article by Reuters you can read why Navi Pillay has gotten honored by the Nobel Academy. Reuters’ lede will make Trump’s blood boil:
OSLO, Oct 9 (Reuters) – Navi Pillay, a former ICC judge who oversaw a UN report that concluded that Israel committed genocide in Gaza, won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday “for her efforts to promote peace and international law”.
Giving the prize to Pillay, 85, who has been a judge on several international courts, including the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, underlined the importance of maintaining an organised international order, the Nobel committee said in its citation.
Wow. It’s almost like the Nobel Committee (albeit politely) told Trump to shove his hopes and dreams of someday getting his very own Nobel Peace up his fat orange butt. Good for them. It will take a few minutes but I urge you to read the entire piece detailing the life and work of Navi Pillay laying out why she (unlike Trump) is so deserving of this honor. There’s nothing in there Trump’s human printer Natalie Harp can pull out to soothe his shattered ego. This is NOT news Trump wanted to get this morning but to quote CBS legend Walter Cronkite’s nightly sign-off “That’s the way it is.”
What will really gall Trump, who let Bibi Netanyahu manipulate him into this stupid and useless war with Iran comes early in the article. The UN Commission of Inquiry on Israel’s actions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory that concluded last year concluded Israel had committed genocide. I’ll give you three guess as to who chaired that Commission but you only need one. Israel has every right to defend itself from attack but how they have gone about doing so has more than once been at best questionable. They way they have responded to the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack it has been argued taken a ‘kill em all and let god sort em out’ strategy against all Palestinians in Gaza. People who had Hamas imposed on them as a government by none other than Netanyahu.
Well, that’s a much longer debate I’ve written about before and no doubt will again. What matters is that much of the world, but more to the point the UN and ICC have made a point of criticizing Israel’s action in Gaza and made efforts to change things. More to the point, even though their citation did not specifically reference Trump or Israel the Committee that awards the Nobel Peace Prize took notice:
The Hague-based ICC has long been a target of US President Donald Trump, whose campaign against it has escalated since the court announced arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence minister last year.
“The system of international law is under tremendous pressure, and its institutions are under attack,” the Nobel committee said.
“We see a shift towards power politics at the expense of legal frameworks and global respect for law and justice. Whenever might overtakes right, it undermines stability, trust and peaceful co-existence.”
Again I urge you to read the linked article which cites some details about judge Pillay’s life and work. She’s got guts, and isn’t someone to take any crap from anyone including Trump. As it happened she was at a conference in Nuremburg of all places when she got the news about being this year’s Nobel Peace Prize honoree. Clearly she figured Trump would go on a tear so she got in a delightfully wicked first punch:
Pillay received news of the award while she was attending a legal conference in the building in Nuremberg, Germany, where the first international criminal tribunal was set up in 1945-1946 to judge the crimes of the Nazis.
“The last thing I did is the delivery of the report on Gaza, naming what’s happening there as genocide,” Pillay told a crowd gathering to celebrate the award, a video posted on social media by the head of rights group Amnesty International showed.
“If you clap a little bit more, I may share this prize with Trump,” she added, to laughter, in an apparent reference to the decision by last year’s laureate, Maria Corina Machado, to give her Nobel medal to the US president in January to help gain support for her campaign for a democratic Venezuela.
Yep, because of Trump the world is laughing at us. The laughter is an indication they all know what’s coming from him and while I don’t twitter I’d imagine Trump is already getting ratioed! It’s Friday, and Trump was already going to be in a funk today. He’d planned on hopping over to Alabama after a campaign stop in Tennessee. He wanted to crash the Alabama vs. Georgia football game and likely won’t get to have his moment at Bryant-Denny stadium in Tuscaloosa after all due to the hurricane about to hit. He’s already got MAGAs ticked off at him, and down south where college football is their real religion the hurricane is a special kind of disaster for Trump. His cult will realize he’s NOT god, not if he can’t stop a hurricane so a bigly college football clash can go down in perfect fall weather!
Now, in addition to having to worry the scales are falling from his follower’s eyes he’s once again been passed over by the Nobel Committee, and worse with some attitude this time! Trump’s weekend is ruined, and I can’t help but smile at the combined humiliation and rage he will be feeling. And no, I don’t feel the least bit sorry for his handlers who have to deal with him. They chose to glom onto him and dodging ketchup bottles is ‘what they signed up for’ so they, like Trump can suck it as far as I’m concerned.
