This deep red state has gotten tired of Trump’s chaos. They’re tired of what he has not been doing for the country. They’re tired of gas prices, the economy, and inflation, and certainly the Forever War, Iran Version. They’re telling him so, although it may be too subtle for Trump to understand. This deep red state is a little less red because they are tired of Trump. Broken promises make people angry. Not only has he done that, but it’s quite the opposite of what he promised.
America First. No foreign wars. Those are big ones. He talks about adding Canada and Greenland to the US, and those are foreign, even if Canada is right up the road. It may be a little less foreign. That’s not America First. No foreign wars, yet we’re in one because of Trump (and Hegseth). It doesn’t look like the war is going to end any time soon, because he’s been talking about attacking them again after the midterms. The abuse of our military will continue. Hegseth is doing quite well at wrecking the military, along with the abuse.
Here’s another big one: the release of the Epstein Files. He definitely talked about doing so if he became president. But Trump had to be forced into it by a nearly unanimous vote in Congress, which would override any possibility of a veto. The DOJ dragged its feet about getting them out. Remember the 1,000 FBI agents seconded over to the DOJ to help with the redactions? We know it was to redact anything about Trump, yet his name is still in there more than 38,000 times.
Trump’s support is crumbling. He is the face of everything that’s wrong with America. He’s been the cause of a lot that is going wrong not just in Ohio, but in America. *Everyone* is hurting except the gazillionaires, and they don’t count. They’re another symbol for what has gone wrong with our country.
The quotes in the column are going to be a little longer than usually done these days. Many thanks to Raw Story:
Kelly Savage-Radich, a Dayton-area mother of three who backed Trump in 2016 and 2020, told the Guardian that her family may have to sell a vehicle because of gas prices and that her grocery bill has climbed roughly $100 a week. She blamed the Trump administration directly. “He wants his name on everything,” she said. “I’m sorry, but I don’t give a s— whose name is on the Kennedy Center.”
She also pointed to the killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis earlier this year. “The shooting of an American citizen dead in the street, and no one was held accountable?” she said. “I have two daughters, and I’m trying to teach them all the freedoms this country has, but it feels like our freedoms are being taken.”
BOOM. Our freedoms are being taken. Yea, that sounds about right. There’s a lot we can’t do, and institutions can’t do. One small thing we really can’t do anymore, if at all, is go out to dinner. Our household certainly can’t. Why? Gas costs and grocery increases. Households are strapped for cash, and that’s directly due to Trump. No wonder his support is shrinking. It seems that the discontent with Trump is growing every day. If we’re lucky, it will increase up to election day, and that will help our people. We have a country to fix.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
