There is some advantage to living in a world where there is a video and/or tweet for every occasion. Today we find ourselves immersed in the ongoing soap opera on Pennsylvania Avenue. In the latest episode, Melania and Donald went to the races. They sat in their own box until Melania became aware that Natalie Harp was nearby. Then she rose and was gone toute suite. Then entered Natalie, who approached her Deity Donald.

All eyes were trained on the back of the booth and the instant Natalie entered, bam, out went Melania. Natalie appeared to hand Trump something, which he perused, and then he turned around and spoke to Natalie.
Now there’s two ways of interpreting Melania leaving and I’ll tell you which one I favor:
- Melania is jealous;
- Melania sees the appearance of Natalie as business as usual and happily cedes the space to her.
I go with theory number two. I think that Melania is bored to death with Trump, with Washington, and the whole First Lady scene. She does the minimum that she can to keep on top of it. I don’t think Melania is jealous, I think she is bored and the appearance of Natalie gave her a welcome excuse to get away from Donald.
However, leaving when Natalie shows up is suspect to two interpretations and probably a lot of people are going with option number one.
Stay tuned. This is only going to get weirder still. Just bear in mind that Trump is known for transactional relationships only and he’s getting the benefit of his bargain from both women. Melania is unquestionably being compensated well for whatever she does and Natalie Harp has her own mentally ill fish to fry. Nobody here is a victim, everybody is a neurotic participant.

I don’t think Melania is jealous, but she doesn’t like being very publicly disrespected. Allegedly, in 2016 Trump told his then-“fixer,” Michael Cohen, that he didn’t care if his fling with Stormy Daniel’s were to hurt his marriage. He could easily find a replacement for Melania. And apparently he has.
