A red-hot mess, as the title of the article states. It seems Republicans aren’t doing very well there. Remember Vivek Ramaswamy getting booed off stage? That’s not all that’s a problem, although he is one of the people involved. Ohio may be looking at some very competitive races in what used to be a safe, red state. Let’s see why. Republicans are increasingly viewing normally reliable Ohio as a “red hot mess” before the midterm elections, as pivotal candidates face either scandal or voter apathy. According to a report from Axios, at the top of the list for Republicans fretting devastating election losses is Rep. Max Miller (R), who is mired in an ugly domestic abuse scandal that has led his father-in-law, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), to call for him to step aside and seek psychiatric help.
Dude. Miller won’t give up. It’s obvious. He thinks he’s above all this, that it’s all allegations that are not true, according to him. But the more he puts out statements that he’s innocent, the more we wonder what he has to hide, you know, to mangle this saying, Methinks the man doth protest too much. He should be working on his campaign instead of spending time protesting. He needs this to drop out of the public eye and show things he plans to do that have nothing to do with the allegations.
As Axios noted, Miller is not the only problem facing Ohio Republicans. Ohio has transformed from a perennial battleground into a Republican stronghold under Trump. Two years ago, Trump won the state by 11 points — the “largest margin for any winning presidential candidate in four decades,” Axios is reporting.
Now Republicans are facing spending tens of millions of dollars in races they previously viewed as safe wins. “Ohio is ground zero of the environment this cycle. Take a GOP voter depression, mix it with the war in Iran, and now sprinkle with some Max Miller abuse allegations, and you’ve got the recipe for a very dicey outcome in November,” a GOP strategist lamented to Axios.
Aw. Sorry not sorry. Yes, Republicans are going to be forced to spend a lot of money they could have used elsewhere, kinda like the Ken Paxton insanity. They’re going to have to spend a lot of money in Texas, too, also what used to be a safely red state. Talarico is doing very well against him, by the way. Far be it from us to be depressed about the Ohio news. Hopefully, it won’t happen in blue states. We likely don’t have to worry about Minnesota, not after what ICE/CBP did. Or Illinois. What Trump and Republicans are doing is beneficial to us. We might not have to worry about California either, since that’s where the protests started.
According to the report, Republican polling shows GOP Sen. Jon Husted in a dead heat against Democrat Sherrod Brown. Some Republicans attribute Husted’s struggling position to “a lackluster campaign” and failure to distinguish himself since his appointment to replace Vice President JD Vance last year. Former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy faces similarly tight polling against Democrat Amy Acton. According to the report, “Some Republicans say Ramaswamy, an Ivy League-educated former biotech investor, has struggled to win over the state’s blue-collar voters. He’s also faced some backlash from conservatives, particularly over his support for developing data centers for AI.”
It was quite surprising to see that Ramaswamy won the Republican governor nomination. He’s arrogant and doesn’t particularly care about the issues or the people. And the data centers are a big one. Those things suck up power and water. We have enough troubles with our water supply without building more data centers. And AI itself is a problem. Controls are needed to keep it safely shut in and restrained and regulated. There are a bunch of frightening things that have happened with AI. (Remember Hegseth wanted AI for the military with no controls? YeaNo.) So we have Max Miller who won’t drop out of his race and continues to insist he’s innocent. It’s not possible to see it because of HIPAA, but seeing the X-ray for his daughter’s collarbone would be interesting, at the very least. Then there’s Vivek. He’s arrogant, has an overinflated ego, and doesn’t seem to give a damn about the people. We should watch Ohio. It’s going to be quite the battle. May the Democrats win.
