Why is this not a surprise? Everything around the Forever War is … strange. This doesn’t include the “war” itself. But what’s going on for the perimeter is confounding. Hegseth doesn’t make any sense. It seems like Hegseth is in it for the explosions but has no clue how to conduct an actual war. They throw bombs, or they don’t. They blockade the Strait, or they don’t. Could we please just get the damn Strait of Hormuz open and moving? Has that been managed yet? They want to negotiate a peace agreement, or they don’t. Iran is the stronger one here. The US hasn’t exactly covered itself in glory or something to that effect. And we can’t get any truthful answers about darn near anything to do with this debacle. General Caine probably wants to crawl under the carpet at this point, because it’s fairly certain they aren’t listening to him at all. They also may not be listening to the people in the ships and their commanders. This is such a ridiculous mess. With respect to Raw Story:
The Pentagon never told the public that 70 American troops were wounded in a single day during President Donald Trump’s Iran war, according to newly obtained records. The War Horse obtained the records through a Freedom of Information Act request — a demand for government documents — covering the first six weeks of the war, from Feb. 28 through April 8. The data logged more than 400 casualties in that window and included details the Pentagon’s public system has never provided — each service member’s branch, rank, injury type, and the date they were wounded, the War Horse reported.
Good grief. Those are some substantially different numbers, and they didn’t want us to know about them. What else is being hidden? How low we are on munitions? One would think that putting out information about how we are doing would just be a standard thing. If nothing else, it might actually show we *are* in a war. On the other hand, the Forever War of Iran is deeply unpopular. Perhaps they figured making stats public would not help their cause and would make the people of America even more disgusted with this thing than they are already. It certainly won’t take much. Well, let’s move along.
Head trauma was the most common injury by far, accounting for at least 170 cases, according to the War Horse. Troops also suffered shrapnel wounds, broken bones, and smoke inhalation. Army soldiers made up most of the casualties — more than 270 troops, roughly one-third of them reservists — along with 64 officers, the War Horse reported. The single largest casualty day in the data came on March 18, roughly 24 hours after a U.S.-Israeli airstrike killed Ali Larijani, a senior Iranian political figure, the War Horse reported. Seventy casualties were recorded that day, according to the data. More than two dozen were classified as resulting from an enemy attack. The Pentagon never announced the toll.
That’s disturbing. Who knows what was going on in Hegseth’s head. Embarrassment, maybe?? Is he looking at everyone out there as markers on a board, thinking no one is going to get hurt because we’ll just bomb the heck out of Iran, get the 2 things we want, and go home? YeaNo. Those are real people and ships, Petey Boy. And those are real injuries and real deaths. Why doesn’t he take a trip out there to see what it’s really like, considering how easy his stint in the military was? He’s all about showing he is a machismo manly man here at home. The reason, experts say, traces to the War Powers Act — a 1973 law requiring the president to get congressional approval to continue military operations beyond 60 days. The Washington Examiner reported that the Pentagon split the war into two separate lists to reset that clock. One list covers Operation Epic Fury, which the administration says ended July 7. A second, new list — “Overseas Operations” — picks up casualties after that date, the Washington Examiner noted. “The Pentagon is pretending there have been two Iran wars separated by a brief cease-fire,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) wrote on X. “The reality: By going more than 90 days without congressional authorization, War Secretary Pete Hegseth is breaking the law and must be held accountable.”
Don’t we wish. Hegseth has gotten away with a lot and still hasn’t gotten fired. He’s making a debacle of this war. He represents the military. Who knows why Trump wants it to keep going? There’s such a mishmash of random information in Trump’s head that it’s hard to tell what he’s thinking about for the day, let alone something specific like this war. Last we heard he was looking for a way out. If this had been done properly from the beginning, maybe it wouldn’t have become such a mess. And the Pentagon is lying. Yay.
