This guy should have known better than to bring a Democrat on the news regarding Trump’s bizarre speech last night. Senator Warner was prepared with all sorts of rebuttals and more. It’s likely any Democrat would be prepared if asked for anything in Trump’s speech. It has yet to show up online in a text document, so only bits and pieces are available. It would be fun *cough* to read the whole thing. I have two personal matters (pain sucks) that prevented me from trying to watch, and I detest that man’s voice because it sounds like a child’s. Please accept my apologies. With gratitude for Raw Story:
CBS News head Bari Weiss’s handpicked evening news anchor Tony Dokoupil got an on-air tongue-lashing from Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) (D-VA) last night after his network carried Donald Trump’s fact-challenged election fraud speech. Brought on to comment after the embattled network went ahead with covering the speech while NBC and ABC took a pass, Warner came out of the gate firing at the CBS News host. After Dokoupil asked the Democrat if there was “anything to your ears that was new tonight,” Warner had other ideas about what he wanted to talk about.
Oh, dear. Coming out of the gate firing is a problem for CBS. And hammering the new anchor is a bonus for us. They carried the speech while other networks did not. However, let’s hope ABC and NBC have backup to push back on Trump. Now, back to Senator Warner and, peripherally, Democrats. And so, we had a chance to have our say, and Senator Warner took it and used it.
“No,” he snapped. “As a matter of fact, before I start, as an American, not as an elected official, I was embarrassed that the president of the United States went before our whole country, and networks like yours carried this as news, as opposed to a rehash of falsehoods.” He added,
“And it is incumbent upon you and any responsible journalist to push back on these falsehoods … And unless responsible journalists and the American people step up and say our system, which has stood the test of time, is not going to be undermined by this kind of falsehood, then, you know, we all have to live with those responsibilities.”
If other networks carried the “speech,” they have yet to be found. It will show up eventually. But we, the independent organizations, have put out the news and we have the responsibility of keeping our country together long enough to get rid of Trump, because others won’t and they support our demented, childish farce of a ‘president ‘. Trump does what he wants to do, and nothing else matters. He goes on breaking things (absolute immunity, screw you, SCOTUS conservatives with their lips glued to Trump’s arse). And to hell with you, limp, whiny, afraid, also glued to Trump’s arse, Republicans. Senator Warner is stepping up with comments, and Republicans …. are not adding anything.
Dokoupil sulked. “You are calling for context and analysis and pushback,” Senator Warner said. “You are on the show right now giving it, and acting as though it’s not happening… we’ve been trying to buttress and fact-check and give context and analysis… throughout. The fuming lawmaker replied, “Where would you like me to start on the level of falsehoods, you know, just incredible lies?”
Oh, yes, he was angry and prepared. How does Congress put up with Trump’s voice? The speech was exactly what we expected. Lies, lies, lies. Senator Warner likely has all of them noted. Did Trump include the “damage by vandals” lie about the damage to the paint? They’ve drained it to fix the coating. It would be interesting to see the bottom before they fix it, since “it was a very long cut”. It would be interesting to see his other lies. There seems to be pontificating on China and interfering with an election, but that’s already been known for just about a decade. Trump won’t do anything about it since he didn’t do anything about Pootie. It would be interesting to see Senator Warner’s notes, and again, yes, it would be very enlightening. That’s him up top in the picture, although it’s not him on CBS.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

To repeat: The mouth and voice, practice and effect of Trumpism is simply nothing but self-serving and destructive, conspitorial and accusitorial bollox. Trumpisn couldn’t lie straight in bed because it’s both dishonest and deceptive.
