Add another hit on JD Vance. The one thing we need Iran isn’t discussing. They are talking about the Strait of Hormuz, but the really important part isn’t getting anywhere. This is going to be a battle in the talks. First, we have to get Iran to a location for talks. Then we have to get them talking. THEN we have to get them to talk about something specific. And the talks are not going our way, especially with Trump and his (expletive) posts! My compliments to Raw Story:

The Trump administration admitted it’s worried that a nuclear deal with Iran is increasingly unlikely, the Wall Street Journal reported. Senior U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal on Friday that a nuclear deal with Iran is “growing increasingly unlikely” in a “rare acknowledgment.” A deal to limit Iran’s nuclear capacity was one of Trump’s “core foreign-policy goals,” the Journal noted. However, the senior officials who spoke to the Journal are expecting Iran to release a statement declaring that it will stop firing at ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz and leave it open.

Yeaaaah. I’ll believe that when I see it. This is Iran, after all. And learning what a mess our “negotiators” have been making is making us very, very cynical. It hasn’t worked so far. Why would they open the Strait now? And how long will it last? The guess is a couple of hours. Maybe long enough to get a few boats through, but no more than that. Are we still doing the (expletive) naval blockade? Because if we are, it’s pointless for Iran to open the Strait if they have to turn around. This is some bullsht. It’s a ridiculous hour of the morning, and I had best not rant. Lessee… 3:29 am.

One of the officials suggested there would be serious consequences if such a promise isn’t made by Saturday,” the Journal wrote, referring to the Strait of Hormuz statement. “Others didn’t suggest there was a firm deadline.” The Journal noted that Trump told reporters earlier this week that Iran will “never build a nuclear weapon under our deal, but I don’t know if we’re going to have a deal.” Sources told the Journal that a nuclear deal wouldn’t be possible unless Iran hands over control of its buried enriched uranium, and the U.S. has “low-cost military options to block access to the nuclear material forever.”

Iran has a royal flush while we have a pair of 2s. They can put a statement out when they damn well please. We’re in a leaky boat and hope we can make it to shore. We’ll see what happens with this supposed Strait announcement. It’s really unsettling that we may never get a deal. We’re in the weaker position. Okay, do we even have a chance at a nuclear deal? Probably not, since Trump can’t keep his mouth shut, Vance can’t keep his mouth shut, and he’s a buffoon being sent to negotiate, which, frankly, means Iran thinks we are all idiots, since certain people put him back in the White House. Stupid.

Under the current memorandum of understanding, the U.S. and Iran have 60 days to reach a final nuclear agreement, which could be extended, the Journal added. “Iran made no explicit promises to scale back its nuclear program in the interim deal,” the Journal wrote. “But it did commit to the two sides reaching a satisfactory solution for handling Iran’s existing stockpile of highly enriched uranium.”

It’s part of a solution. Supposedly, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened, and ships will finally go through it. Trump should have tried diplomacy rather than an attack. We might not have been in the position we are now. We have a humiliating loss. Now, we are losers in the world, since you can go online and find out pretty much all that’s going on. Well, that’s the way it goes. We’ll have to muddle along as best we can.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
