[Time for an Aerosmith song. “You gotta walk this way/// talk this way]
Okay, apparently a day to find things that are new and different. Some are bad. Some are good. And some are just plain weird. Trump has gone overseas for a NATO gathering in Turkey. Something is a little off-kilter, and it could have so, so many causes. It seems we are into the bizarre. With appreciation for Raw Story:
Video circulating online showing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan clutching President Donald Trump’s arm to guide him during their Tuesday meeting in Ankara is drawing mockery and reviving questions about who is steering whom. The clip, flagged by independent journalist Aaron Rupar, showed Erdogan clutching “a wandering Trump’s arm to guide him around” as the two leaders moved across the tarmac at the NATO summit hosted by Turkey.
Ha. Now Trump wanders in person as he does with speeches. This is going to make life even more interesting. Is this showing it’s time to ask his doctors if he should resign his position? There are far too many signs of something going wrong with him, but the doctors tell us he’s fine. No, he is not. We need new doctors with spines so they can get past his blustering and *actually figure out* what’s going on with that man.
The footage landed with particular sting given what Trump had just said about his host. Sitting beside Erdogan, Trump lavished praise on the Turkish leader as a paragon of strength, telling reporters that “sometimes you get along with the toughest people like him, and sometimes you don’t get along with the weakest, most pathetic people.” “You just don’t get along,” Trump added. “Maybe you don’t respect them.”
Heh. Trump does not respect anyone except himself. Sure, he talks a good game about people, but he just has no respect. It’s ironic for him to say such a thing. The closest he comes is to the “strongmen” in Europe. You know, the ones who are actually dictators but are trying to show they are democratic. They are in name only. Like, say … Putin. It would be educational to find out who Trump considers to be weak. It’s likely anyone who has pushed back on him for any reason. That’s probably most of Europe. And NATO. Trump loves to complain when he doesn’t get what he wants.
The Turkish strongman Trump had just saluted as one of the toughest people alive was, moments later, physically maneuvering him across the tarmac, leading onlookers to mock the image. //// “Trump’s dementia is out of control,” X user Mykhaïlo Golub wrote to his 56,000 followers.//// “Today in ‘if this was Biden,'” wrote fellow X user shayne571. ///// The optics fed directly into a debate that has shadowed Trump’s second term. In April, 36 physicians from Harvard, Tufts, Columbia and George Washington University filed a statement in the Congressional Record warning of the 80-year-old president’s “rapidly worsening, reality-untethered, increasingly dangerous decline” and calling him “mentally unfit” to serve.
And we ask again – why is it that everyone can see this except his doctors and administration (and Congress)? Why aren’t they doing anything? There has to be some sort of reason we do not know, and wish someone would find out. Trump is making a mess of America and showing his stupidity to the world. We want to crawl under rocks so we don’t have to watch and listen to Trump because it’s so shameful. We are subjected to him every day in the news. We have to watch him screw up, both physically when he walks or moves, and mentally with wandering speeches, news articles, and Truth Social raving texts in the nights when he barely sleeps. We are so exhausted by him. Why do we have to wait for action?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
