America is having a significant birthday today. Thank you for joining us here. Donald Trump has plans to start speaking at 10:00 p.m. tonight so who knows if we’ll manage to see any fireworks tonight. They were originally set to go off at midnight on the 5th, for whatever sense that makes. In any event, America isn’t sitting by idle while Trump manages to foul up her birthday party. Protesters are out in the street with cries of 86 47 and impeach, convict, remove.
Meanwhile, Trump is lying away on Truth Social, talking about the “massive crowds” (the mall is practically empty, whether from the heat or protesting Trump or both) and how wonderful everything is.
Let’s see how the rest of the day goes. The only thing Lady Liberty sees with absolute certainty today is how divided her people are. And she weeps.
And news of a new “Civil War” is in the background. A poll shows that 37% of people polled believe that some sort of violence will be necessary to return America to her former status. What exactly that will look like was not specified. We’re not in the 1860’s with cannons and muskets.
