Outside of the usual nonsense he’s trying to pull, it could be difficult to slide out of this one. There’s actual danger and potential injury involved because he takes too many shortcuts. It’s surprising he does so when he isn’t paying for it. It doesn’t require any of *his* money. What the hell is he trying to pull here? Respect to Raw Story:

close call involving performers at the Great American State Fair could land President Donald Trump behind bars, one journalist cautioned on Thursday. Performers narrowly avoided injury Thursday when a section of the stage at the Washington, D.C. event appeared to give way, sending debris crashing down just feet from where they stood. According to Drop Site News founder Ryan Grim, however, the incident could end up haunting the president.

Estimating from pictures, that stage is *at least* six feet off the ground. The potential for injury is enormous, ranging from scrapes and getting worse. There is no way to tell if they put plywood underneath either, because if they didn’t, that stage won’t match and won’t be level. Then add equipment for whoever is performing. That’s incredibly shoddy and nerve-wracking just from looking at the picture. Yes, I know what I’m talking about. I’ve had my own stage for outdoor performances. Whether or not you do overall, trust me on this.

Okay, coming back to this, I have been corrected. It was part of the backdrop that came down, not a section of the actual stage. That had much more potential for serious injury. It looked like the performers were pros because they kept going with their rehearsal. That is a *true* sign of a professional, and more power to them for doing so. No one was hurt, and we need to be very thankful for that. The stage is what you stand on. The stage is not the backdrop or the set.

This is incredibly dangerous stuff. Trump cutting safety corners with stage building is the kind of thing somebody can genuinely be prosecuted for if someone dies, which is not uncommon if you slap it together like this,” Grim wrote in a social media post on X to his more than 530,000 followers. “This equipment is deadly when falling from those heights.”

You’ll want to take a look at that link. It’s frightening. We were fortunate it wasn’t worse. If you haven’t done anything outdoors like this, it’s bad enough to see it in a tweet. But to have worked outdoor shows, this chills your blood. There are certain things where you do NOT cut corners. I have actually fallen off a stage much higher than this one and got away with a headache. But damn, I’ll be seeing this in my nightmares for a while.

Organized by the Trump-linked group Freedom 250, the fair got off to a rough start last week after most of the artists previously slated to perform at the event backed out after learning of its connections to Trump. The fair has also experienced power failures that melted perishable foods and stalled a Ferris wheel, and has been ridiculed over what appear to be near-empty fields and booths. Fair organizers have yet to release a statement regarding the incident on Thursday, which had been initially flagged by independent journalist Aaron Parnas but has since been picked up by several news outlets.

I’m betting they’re not going to say a damn thing and hope the news fades. With as much as it’s spreading, that’s not going to happen. This news has legs. It’s going to stay put. We don’t want to think about what observers were feeling when they saw that backdrop coming down. This is where “gut-wrenching” applies. There are going to be hard questions asked. Just be glad that, as far as we know, no one was hurt in this. Small favors.

Do you think they had insurance for this thing? See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
