Dumbass. Trying to make himself come across as all righteous and whining about how Pope Leo doesn’t listen to the leadership *cough* of the United States about immigration is not a good look. Not to mention that Pope Leo has to be exponentially more intelligent. My compliments to Raw Story:

Vice President JD Vance’s most recent jab at the pope backfired as onlookers shot back at him. During an appearance on Fox News, Vance questioned decisions by the American Pope Leo, who has emerged as a vocal advocate for immigrants and directly challenged the Trump administration’s sweeping immigration crackdowns.

And well he should challenge them! There is nothing good about how immigrants are treated here anymore, no matter how long they’ve been here. To split hairs, everyone has immigrants in their ancestry! But our administration thinks they are so high and mighty because *they* were born here. It’s not the point. It isn’t.

“I don’t see Pope Leo as an anti-capitalist. I do think some of the things that have come out of the Vatican on the immigration issue, in particular, have been troubling,” Vance said. “What I would hope the Catholic leadership has learned from some of the things that me and Marco [Rubio] and the president have said about immigration is, it’s not just about the dignity of the immigrant, it’s about the dignity of the native born.”

Hooey! Everything is interwoven here. Have none of these jerks seen the reports on what happens when they kick a whole bunch of people out of the country? It makes everything worse! Jobs start disappearing, not increasing. Look at the journey of an orange. It needs food and water. It has to be picked at the right time, then transported carefully. Then it gets to our store and is put out for us. Take away just the people who do the picking. Everything else falls. And remember, we didn’t get fertilizer this year because of the Iran War. Okay, that’s a bit of a side trip, but we’re back now.

Vance has criticized Pope Leo’s comments about immigration before, but this time, online critics were ready to respond and share their unhappiness with Vance’s comments. //// “You have to have some deep, unregistered pretentiousness to try to dunk on the pope,” wrote political commentator Juan Escalante on Bluesky. //// “Come on, Pope Leo,” pleaded journalist Thor Benson. “Excommunicate him. Do it for me.” //// “I hope the scholars at the large hadron collider have learned from my many assorted thoughts on particles,” joked political scientist Anjali Dayal, summing up Vance’s argument. //// “More Catholic than the Pope, eh?” asked progressive political commentator Wajahat Ali.

Those were quite the pompous and bombastic words from Vance. Trump does well at that, also. Vance likes the words of the Church but doesn’t follow the meanings behind them. So, what’s the point? Sound good and make it seem like you’re the better person? It appears so. But in a battle of wits between Pope Leo and Vance, well, it’s not even a competition. The Pope beats Vance all hollow. Go on, JD. Run away and play now.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
