To all our readers who have been reminding me that Trump is a cheapskate, well, here’s further proof. This thing that Trump insisted would be a wonderful celebration of our country’s 250th birthday isn’t. It’s pitiful. Fox News tried to talk it up, and we all know what happens when they try. And yes, it’s not a surprise, either. But it is good for a few moments of entertainment, because there isn’t much else in the news about something that isn’t Trump. Figured we could all use a break. Compliments to Raw Story:

Fox News was roundly mocked on Sunday after one segment claimed that pictures of the sparsely attended Great American State Fair, organized by an entity linked to President Donald Trump called Freedom 250, did not tell the full story of the event. Kevin Corke, Fox News’s senior national correspondent, claimed onThe Big Weekend Show” that the energy at the state fair was much greater than what pictures of the event showed. Several photos emerged online on Sunday showing that few people were at the eventheld at the National Mall, due to rainstorms in the area.

You can’t ride anything when it’s raining, and that’s part of the fun (even at my age). After hearing how many states couldn’t afford to do anything, what’s left? Beer and food. Yawn-inducing. You can still eat and drink for less at home (barely) than paying the prices at a fair. If there’s practically nothing to see, and you have to park and walk, and pay exorbitant costs, why bother? At least it wasn’t crowded. Heh.

Sometimes the pictures don’t tell the full story because if you look behind us, a couple of hundred people back there, but when you make your way over here, and you’re in this wash of people,” Corke said. Onlookers mocked Corke’s claims on social media.

It doesn’t work that way. You don’t have a few hundred in one place, and then a “wash” in another. The only “wash” was probably pollen brought down by the rain. And umbrellas. Those got a “wash” too. He probably wasn’t trying to be funny. Well, better him making a fool out of himself than you or me.

Don’t believe your lying eyes. Believe Fox,” Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, posted on X. //// “Pictures tell the story,” Fred Wellman, a Democratic political candidate in Missouri, posted on X. //// “Allow me to explain why you should not believe your lying eyes,” Kelly Scaletta, a political commentator known as “Machine Pun Kelly” online, posted on X. //// “Are the people in the room with you right now?” Hemant Mehta, a writer and former “Jeopardy!” champion, posted on X.

Well said, folks. There is the fun you can have at the Not Great American State Fair. And you didn’t have to leave the comfort of your own home! And drive a gazillion miles. Not worth days of your life to get there, plus everything that goes along with traveling. Nah. Happy Birthday, America. Not too far away now.

See you soon! But here, not there.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
