Okay, folks, give me some love here. You didn’t like yesterday’s pieces at all. Let’s see if I can do better today. I apologize for being behind on responses to your comments. This piece is a day old but still worth discussing. With appreciation for Raw Story:

Trump posted another disturbing AI picture. He’s got nukes back in his mind again, and whoever gave that to him needs to be at least figuratively smacked. His staff does not need to keep reminding him we have these. We could turn the entire world against us, and then what would we do? Could we survive without any help? Unlikely. There’s a strong chance our nation would crash and burn, really turning into one of those dystopian novels that are already being written. Or there are the dystopian movies like The Hunger Games. That thought is appalling. With gratitude to Raw Story:

President Donald Trump sparked concern among onlookers Sunday night into Monday morning after sharing what appears to be an image created with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) depicting him launching a nuclear strike.”

Trump has shared controversial images that appear to have been created with GenAI in the past, including last year, when he shared a threatening image of Chicago, Illinois, consumed by flames, or last month, when he shared an image depicting himself as a Jesus Christ-like figure.

Sunday night, Trump appeared to share yet another GenAI-generated image, only this one, depicting himself hitting a large red button as a colossal explosion with a large mushroom cloud is seen hitting earth.

Oh, for god’s sake. What has gotten him on this subject? Is it because we would be decimated in a land war with Iraq? Is there another place he wants to drop one? Or is it something stupid that’s because he likes the way it looks? No matter what, this really needs to stop. The world may blow it off, but we really do need to think about it. Remember, Trump has *no* guardrails anymore, and he *could* do something stupid.

F—— nutcase,” wrote Jeff Nadu, a podcast host and content creator in a social media post on X to his more than 44,000 followers. “God help us.”

Evan Jacobs, a popular online political commentator, sarcastically called itgreat” that Trump, whom he accused of having “dementia,” – could “destroy the earth whenever he feels like it” in a social media post on X to his more than 160,000 followers.

And documentary filmmaker Armstrong Clarke, also writing on X, warned that Trump’s social media post was just the latest sign of the United States’ collapse.

The most powerful man on earth is making movie posters about himself. We are so cooked,” Clarke wrote.

This is what happens when a 79-year-old discovers [the GenAI program] Midjourney and has access to actual missiles.”

It’s all of those and more. People can pooh-pooh the idea because he’ll never do it. But Trump keeps posting these apocryphal images more and more frequently. Don’t laugh until he’s gone, folks. And that means out of office, not completely into dementia. Until he is out of the White House, we can’t be sure he *won’t* do something stupid. We need to be careful, and we need to watch for the signs that he’s getting worse. He’s cornered on Iran, and he hates it, but can’t see that dropping a nuke on Iran, on anyone, is worse than that. Jokes about bomb shelters may not be jokes anymore.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. The fear is that he is being reduced to 2 nuclear options. The preferred one is to accept a fudged deal that, however, tacitly, demonstrates his defeat or the actual setting off of a nuclear explosion somewhere in the territory of Iran.
It would represent to him a Superman, one bound and he was free outcome, along with other superlatives such as the world has never seen any thing like it before and the rest of his self aggrandizing litany. Hopefully, it would not trigger a full on nuclear retaliation from Russia but it would certainly lead to a very different world and a very diminished US.
Question: If, in his condition, he impulsively goes that way, are there any stoppers other than someone along the line refusing orders (if there be anyone of that calibre in his orbit)?

    • Oh, geez. I *hope* that someone in the military will finally say no. They should have said no a long damn time ago. It has been infuriating me that all the way back to the Venezuela boats,, actions have been carried out with no pushback from the military. I don’t understand what they are doing. I am super worried that Trump will order a nuke to be dropped on Iran, and then where would we be? Can they refuse?

Is there anyone besides the military who would say no? Beats me. His ‘cabinet’ is made of yes-men and yes-women. I would hope so, but I can’t say anyone would. I just can’t.
